19 mouse scrolls before hitting Django!!

What can I say? I like it, but others like it more. Anyway, better a mouse scroll than something else.

Hancock 15th clearly ahead of Powell Hill and Peterson? Well, to each their own.

it's not a fixed ranking, it also depends on the moment and the state of mind.

_And throw us a Bix, what does it cost you? He didn't find too many notes, just the right ones, but stikazzi, it's like the game of darts, you always hit the bullseye. It's the genius who sees the armchair to sit in when there's none._

Well Panza, you have to face it. I also had to leave out the Oliver Onions despite a milestone like this:

beautiful, I would like to see a bit more about Buddy Rich, but it's okay anyway.

  • Emerson

Many consider Buddy Rich to be the greatest drummer of all time for his technique and speed. I completely agree with this assessment. However, I personally find many of his performances to be "out of jazz" and even a bit cold. This is why he is positioned where he is in this temporary ranking of mine, where I chose to highlight other artists who align more with my current tastes and my idea of jazz.

  • Django a bit short at 39 in my opinion...

  • Emerson

This one about Django had already been written to me by Skeletron. Let's say that among the best gypsies of Sinti ethnicity, I could place him second behind Pirlo and in front of Yul Brinner. Last but not least, Moira Orfei:)

  • ... so where do we put Ibra (our new signing)?? :DD

  • Emerson
    6 sep 10
But forget it! Cup, league, friendlies, interviews, insights, reality shows, luxury, sex with Uma Thurman, sex with Dr. House... He doesn’t sleep anymore! And then he’s a gypsy of Khoraxay ethnicity, not Sinti.

  • Well, come on... let's not be nitpicky :-))

    Ranking close to perfection!

With Coltrane at 5th place and Chet Baker...far behind, I would have called it a ranking from a Davisian point of view...which I fully agree with.

What a great ranking, uncle! And I'm almost in agreement with the top positions (I think Duke deserves the first place though!). I must admit that I don't know many of these artists, but it's really an excellent overview, and after this happy viewing, I'll rush to feed myself with "new" jazz! One last totally unnecessary note: Petrucciani deserved something (much) more, in my opinion... :)

Emerson's classification is indeed excellently varied, but buddy, not the last one, please no. He was a virtuoso with a brain, melodically he was phenomenal. Listen to him in his quartet with Drew. I'll send you a link.

Ayler plays the bass like this? I don't see Sun Ra... Chick Corea seems excessively high to me. Alright, sorry.

Mirage, what can you do? I'm an amateur, the important thing is to love jazz!

  • Caravan
    31 mar 11
Come on, people like Horace Silver, Gil Evans, Sonny Clark, Lee Morgan, Cannonball behind George Benson, and furthermore in positions far away from the top of the charts? It can't be...

  • Emerson
    31 mar 11
It's not easy to move them; only the very first spots are correct. The others are kind of all over the place... George Benson is a whim, a passion I've had since I was younger. He's definitely among the top twenty jazz guitarists of all time; he's no fool. Or is he?

  • Caravan
    31 mar 11
Sure, but in general, the others aren't idiots either, you know.

  • Emerson
    31 mar 11
N.B. Corrected according to my tastes, of course.
