Ray Brown (1926–2002) was an American jazz double bassist known for his long career as a leading accompanist and bandleader, notably a member of the Oscar Peterson Trio and a frequent collaborator with Ella Fitzgerald.

Recorded extensively as a leader and sideman; worked with Oscar Peterson, Ella Fitzgerald, Count Basie, Duke Ellington, Charlie Parker and others. Appeared on labels including Concord Jazz and Pablo; associated with Norman Granz. Soular Energy (1984) featured Gene Harris and Gerryck King and was released on Concord; a later audiophile vinyl by Pure Audiophile included bonus alternate takes.
