Louis Armstrong (August 4, 1901 – July 6, 1971) was an American jazz trumpeter and singer whose virtuoso playing and charismatic vocals were foundational to the development of jazz.

Armstrong revolutionized jazz solo performance and popularized the role of the soloist; nicknamed Satchmo and Pops; recorded influential sessions from the 1920s onward and remained a major figure in jazz through the mid-20th century.

Two enthusiastic DeBaser reviews celebrate Louis Armstrong's trumpet sound and swing. Reviewers call his compilations essential, highlighting recordings from the 1920s–1940s. Both reviews give top ratings and urge listeners to get up and dance.
