Sonny Clark

American jazz pianist associated with hard bop, active in the 1950s until his death in 1963. Recorded as both sideman and leader for Blue Note; noted for distinctive phrasing.

Recorded for Blue Note; Cool Struttin' was recorded in January 1958. Frequently credited as an outstanding sideman; played with Art Farmer, Jackie McLean, Paul Chambers and Philly Joe Jones. Died in 1963 at age 31.
