Debris

In addition to Mick Collins, another beautiful bastard devil-wizard of the genre is Greg - Oblivians - Cartwright. Legendary with the Oblivians, immense with the Compulsive Gamblers, and super with this other magnificent creature of his.

With Too Much Guitar, you tell yourself "okay, he made the masterpiece album with his Reigning Sound," and then this damned bastard does what?! He lets five years pass and slams a wonderful album on you, a "moody & melancholic" - his words - side of the Oblivians sound. You can't define it... it takes you back to adolescence with sounds full of sixties moods, R&B, soul but also steeped in that traditional American sound...
And with that bastard voice, winking... to hell with the 17 octaves of the "great singer," which I couldn't care less about... that animates this splendid bastard...

Last Drive - Valley Of Death

These Greeks, who were completely unknown to me until yesterday, are really impressive, savansadir

Great piece

Lightnin' Hopkins - It's A Sin To Be Rich, It's A Low-Down Shame To Be Poor watch it: guitar like it's a part of him, dragged cables, cigarette, pants doing their own thing, shirt open over a tank top, totally laid-back, tell me if that's not cool. And he's absolutely right, it's a real shame.

BLACK DIAMONDS - I Want, Need, Love You (1966)

I Want Need Love You

I mentioned that after a very enjoyable trip out of town, we would return to the creature maxima (alongside the Gories). The most interesting, diverse, and enduring one. So, going back to the encyclopedic double album, the first side (already listened to) consisted of original material, while the second featured majestic covers this time of all kinds: the beloved usual Black, tributes to friends and contemporaneous brainless colleagues, pop and assorted knick-knacks in the Michelino style.

Friends and fellow Garage, psychedelic, psych(o)labil, angry and scornful enthusiasts, dedicated to masturbation and any fine vice that can satisfy our Noble primordial instincts… let’s gather around this NeGro and do ourselves some good…

Storia di carlo I would really like to see the movie again and listen to the song by Avion about angels (also that soundtrack from the film). The singer is phenomenal and the lyrics are never clichéd.

Bruno Lauzi - Il vecchiaccio …I wanted to dedicate it to someone but I can't remember to whom….well, you decide.

The Blues Magoos - We Ain't Got Nothin' Yet (1966 67)

The Essential Albums: “Mercury Singles 1966-1968” and

The Rev recommends this compilation from a few years back that gathers the singles from these three years, almost all included in the first three albums, which represent the true life of the band.

Here’s my take: the debut Psychedelic Lollipop is ONE of the must-have albums of the genre, Electric Comic Book is a worthy successor, while Basic Blues Magoos closes the brief but intense saga of the Bronx boys. The debut is more garage-beat, the next one more psychedelic, and the third one more basic R&B.

Let’s return to PSYCHEDELIC LOLLIPOP …

Simply one of the best garage-psycho-beat tracks… top 20… 10… 5… 3?! Everyone can rank it wherever they like; it’s simply perfect.

The Rev - IlConte (63)

The Four Seasons - Beggin' (Official Audio) oh so the Maneskin are good for something

KRIS KRISTOFFERSON & RITA COOLIDGE - Me And Bobby McGee it seems impossible that the colonel (or captain) son of a US general with such a stony face could have written wonderful songs. He wrote for all the best singers and all hits. I’ve seen some of his interviews and I liked him as a person as well; there are legends about him, Cohen, and Stephen King floating around on the web. According to a crazy theory, these three and others were part of a cult connected to Lennon’s death, with Cohen being a Mossad agent and other far-fetched tales like that. There’s even a book written about Cohen called "The Man Next Door," where Ann Diamond accuses him of being a spy who had been brainwashed at university— the usual mix: one true part about the American professor at the university during Cohen's time and the rest nonsense. Anyway, KK could have rejoined the army as a captain (right) stationed in East Germany. Rambling as usual, I’m off. Oh, do you prefer him or Janis Joplin?

Bantam Rooster - Panther

She'll Be My Death

And from Micigaann, check out these two (ex) lads who devastated - for a select few - the soul with a Garage-Punk-Blues-LoFi sound.
Unfortunately, only three bone-crushing albums for noble souls endowed with a filthy and pulsing sensitivity. They didn't achieve success, but they made me feel “happier”...

Wow, what a blast the drummer is!
