Something to Hold Onto

Besides Mick Collins, another beautiful bastard Devil-Wizard of the genre is Greg - Oblivians - Cartwright. Legendary with the Oblivians, immense with the Compulsive Gamblers, and superb with this other magnificent creation of his.

With Too Much Guitar you say to yourself, “okay, he made the masterpiece album with his Reigning Sound,” but what does this cursed bastard do?! He lets a whole five years pass and then throws a wonderful album at you, a “moody & melancholic” side - his own words - of the Oblivians sound. You can’t define it… it brings you back to adolescence with sounds filled with sixties moods, R&B, soul but also imbued with that traditional American sound…
And with that bastard voice, flirtatious… despite the 17 octaves of the “great singer” whose opinion I couldn’t care less about… that animates this splendid bastard…

Another gem…

La Femme - Teatro Lúcido (Full Album) "PSYCHO TROPICAL BERLIN" is a delightful piece, a journey on a tourist map of Europe. I’m curious to experience this TOUR.

@[sfascia carrozze] the complete remix of the band's latest studio work has been released. Not bad in my opinion, even though I've only listened to half of the tracks. What do you think? Fear Factory - Recoded (Full Album) 2022

Hello

The Jesters Of Newport- Stormy

War Lords - Real Fine Lady

It’s the excitement of a moment, maybe two. That’s why it works especially for a 45 RPM record, often featuring warped titles and names on the masters and the vinyl labels. Further confirmation of a sloppiness that dominated every stage of the process. For many others, it won’t work at all, stopping at the limited space and finances of a demo tape, a reel, a cassette.”

These Greeks are really impressive, completely unknown to me until yesterday, savansadir

Demolition Doll Rods - Married For The Weekend

But from Micigaan, especially from Ditroiit Micigaan... is there anyone who sucks??!! Naaaaiiinnn!!! Another great band with that loveable delinquent Dan Groha (Gories) accompanied by two terribly Ruock little sisters. Garage-glam-punk... the usual second course that fills you up while leaving you light, savansadir.

I went looking for something written about the beginnings of the DDR and found more than I was looking for. In particular, a beautiful article by some Paolo Barone (who the hell I don’t know, savansadir) after seeing them with the Cramps, yes those Cramps at Fillmore West, yes that Fillmore West on Tim Tirelli’s site, one of the craziest music freaks out there... a guy burnt out for all possible genres. One who in the mid-eighties, just over twenty, wrote Oh Jimmy, a real summary on the Zepp (in addition to a cool homonymous one), a truly chronically obsessed one... and indeed he is nobly burnt out. Then an engaging “Ultima Thule.” a wonderful review by Federico Guglielmi, which starts “it’s useless to deny it: there are groups like the Demolition Doll Rods - two wild sisters with their tits out, an ex Gories dressed like a lowlife drag queen) who today bear the difficult task of guardians of the unquenchable fire of rock’n’roll. At least of that rock’n’roll...”

It continues splendidly... but we get it...

I can't find Fooling Around which contains a great riff...

Bob Marley & the Wailers - Pass It On the universal message as the key point of their music

Sette spose per sette fratelli - Going Courtin' Right now they would risk bringing home €140,000!! Who will marry me and then split?

Blues Magoos - Sometimes I think about (High)

The Essential Albums: “Mercury Singles 1966-1968”

The Rev recommends this collection from a few years ago that gathers the singles from these three years, almost all included in the first three albums, which represent the true life of the band.

Here’s my take: the debut Psychedelic Lollipop is ONE of the essential albums of the genre, Electric Comic Book is a worthy successor, while Basic Blues Magoos wraps up the brief but intense saga of the Bronx boys. The debut is more garage-beat, the next one more psychedelic, and the third more basic r&b.

Let’s return to PSYCHEDELIC LOLLIPOP for this beautiful, captivating as few, freakbeat ballad…
