In a remarkable period of "welcome back to the nonsense" - I admit I was losing interest - I listened to, (re)discovered garage bands made of soul and blood, with, as per usual, the most diverse influences from beat to punk, from psychedelia to R&B - from power pop to folk, from rockabilly to mod, even soul and hard rock. In short, the essence of rock 'n' roll from true beasts to the wild scream of “screw your virtuous and incredibly fast scales and your bullshit four-octave vocal range.” From 1990 onwards, with some revivals of old fossils, savansadir.

What are cover albums like?! Probably predictable… except for those by the Detroit Cobras. The perfect background - cranked up, savansadir - of tracks from that incredible decade in a soul-rhythm & blues style infused with a precious garage attitude from Rachel, Mary, and various partners in crime… and then RACHEL, we won't be able to listen to her or see her anymore, she left us last year. A burst of charisma, sensuality, sweetness, and perfect aggression…
