Girl Trouble - Wreckin' Ball

Girl Trouble "Riverbed" 1987

Tacoma... oh yes, the same as the Sonics...
In 1983 they formed, in 1988 they debuted with a beautiful album, only much later appreciated, until being recognized as a “cultural relic” by the Yankee institutions.
From almost zero to 100... only the Americans...

Garage, PunkRock, PunkBlues, Rockabilly, Cowpunk, even a bit of that Grunge. A truly unique mix. The younger siblings by a few years of the Cramps and Gun Love.

Then I tell you…

Louie Louie

#louie (1)

We set off and we can only set off like this, because it's true that "Louie Louie" has been covered by everyone, but it's even truer that it's the quintessence of garage.

The God Machine - Dream Machine - on a bus I still remember, it must have been almost 30 years ago. I was finishing university and found a job as the manager of the skating rink that was making its debut in town that year. There were three or four of us managing it, and some nights I stayed in the little wooden booth making sure everything was running smoothly. In the morning, I had to check the temperature of the system and do some minor maintenance on the rink before it opened to the public. There was also a sound system that played commercial tracks for the skaters throughout the day. So that morning, I felt compelled to raise the level of daily musical miseries, and since I was all alone, I woke up the downtown area of my city with this song blasting! It was infinite joy.

Maria Maddalena - Antonello Venditti

As always, no one - except for the usual extremists, of which I sometimes happen to be a part - needs to agree with me.
Even though I know that I am RIGHT; even if only in this case.

We have all written rivers of words (our good @[withor] must have already felt the compulsive anal-citation fever of Sanremo) about this Ray-Ban-wearing Roman singer-songwriter who, up to this point, I think, had shown good promise.

Apart from the fact that, if I’m not mistaken, the guitars were done by none other than Ivan Graziani, this album was presented on TV, in preview, during the legendary show "Odeon" curated, if I remember correctly, by a certain Giovanni Minoli, which was a great pleasure for me.

But I don’t want to speak well of this album, rather I want to speak poorly of the following one, which I find to be an authentic disgrace.

Those who have bread don’t have teeth, in short.

P.S. Have you seen, by any chance, Cién the Chinese?
I saw him in Modena, the last time. With Gato Barbieri.
