One band more beautiful than the other, I would have also added Sparklehorse, Black Heart Procession, and Grant Lee Buffalo.

What beautiful stuff... many I don't know and I'm looking for them... Sparklehorse and Flaming Lips are big absentees...

A truly beautiful ranking. And a big shoutout to the 61st spot for the Dadamah, a great band that is unfortunately often overlooked.

Some really big names. Others much less so. The problem is that they are all mixed up :) I mean, Talk Talk in the '90s didn’t do little/nothing... You can’t place them second and Bardo Pond sixty-sixth (66th). I’ll skip over Massimo Volume :) Nevertheless, nice!

"That is, the T. T. did little/nothing in the '90s." Without the "not". I'm sorry.

Great ranking, kudos for remembering the Afghan wigs. I would just remove the Porcupine Tree to add Cop Shoot Cop and, I don’t know, the Mercury Rev :)

Even Cop Shoot Cop and, why not, Swans (well, when I mention this name it’s better not to take me too seriously...).

@stefano: I put Talk Talk at the top because "Laughing Stock" is, in my opinion, one of the cornerstone albums of the decade for how it influenced subsequent post-rock, but you do have a point... I only have Bufo Alvarius by Bardo Pond, and anyway, the ranking is indicative; just because a band is low on the list doesn’t mean I consider them poor quality. To me, they’re all worthy of note.
ps: I'm listening to "Sparklehorse" and they sound great.

    uh.
and what are the Panthers doing in the middle there (this is not a controversy)?
and what are the Fugazi doing so low (this is a bit of a controversy)?
anyway, great ranking, the first one I've felt like commenting on.

What do you like about Lustmord?

I enjoy the monumental and spectral "Heresy" by Lustmord and the 1995 collaboration with Robert Rich, "Stalker."

I got Houdini by Long Fin Killie... spectacular album (discovered thanks to this chart...)

Damn, I’m honored to have contributed to bringing attention to a gem like "Houdini". Anyway, thanks for the thanks for the Sparklehorse of the late Linkous.
