Slint are an American band formed in Louisville, Kentucky, in the late 1980s (Brian McMahan, Britt Walford, David Pajo and Ethan Buckler). They released Tweez (1989) and the highly influential Spiderland (1991) and broke up shortly after Spiderland; the group reunited for performances in 2005.

Tweez was recorded with Steve Albini; Spiderland (1991) is widely cited in the reviews as foundational to what came to be called post-rock. The band originated in Louisville, Kentucky, in the late 1980s.

DeBaser's reviews treat Slint as a pivotal Louisville band whose albums Tweez and Spiderland reshaped underground rock into what many call post-rock. Reviewers emphasise slow dynamics, spoken-sung passages, dissonant guitar work and the record Spiderland's long-term influence. Live accounts note the music's private, intimate power.
