The Detour
it's for me but also for @[ZiOn]

Nigel Van Wieck

Nigel Van Wieck can be rightly considered the heir of Edward Hopper; his canvases have a modern content and seem to belong to a distant era. Most of the scenes are drawn from real life, where the artist seems to behave like a voyeur. In subway stations, train cars, and sun-soaked beaches, solitude emerges. The composition of the paintings is often deserted and immersed in silence; there is rarely more than one figure, and when there is more than one, a dramatic estrangement and incomprehensibility between the subjects seem to arise, often deep in their unfathomable thoughts...

Freemason (Original 12") 1990
Vertigo by Boxcar is a great album in the style of New Order's Technique and Severed Heads.

Edoardo Bennato - Era Una Festa the season of self-reducers when everything and everyone was put into question. A concert cost half of an album, not like now when you have to take out a mortgage, yet you all seemed happy... #sapevatelo

Reigning Sound - I'm Trying (To Be the Man You Need)

The beauty and drama combined of Cartwright Greg and his Reigning Sound is that - after the first two being a bit so-so - every album is beautiful. The beauty and drama together is that Shattered for us old folks (after 40 you’re old, get used to it) is a distillation of emotions, memories of impulses and adventures of times gone by… beautiful, moving, and ruthless. Not garage but a mix of R&B, Soul, and Sixties Beat that brings tears of joy… trust me, we’re taking the Reverend down here…

"...when in life you thought you had heard everything" THE SERIES!
Han Bennink on Cheese Kit Diptych - Encore
I know you, little mask-wearers!
You who act all posh around DeB...
"I listen to Test Dept and Einsturzende Neubauten playing iron pipes and pieces of sheet metal..."; "And what about Z'ev?"; "Look, I have all the records of African percussionists playing empty gourds and armadillo shells!"; "And I have the record of the 'bottari' of Portico, #gnegnegne" The worst ones are those who brag about having been drummers...
AMATEURS!
Here you have the CHEESE DRUMS!
And, look, the one playing it is Han Bennink, who is far from a novice! This guy has played with Wes Montgomery, Annette Peacock, Paul Bley, Peter Brotzmann, Eric Dolphy, and many others, and has recorded 7 albums under his own name!
I don't know if I make myself clear... (unlike that couple of you who played the toy drum in the parish band...)
The complete performance can be found on YouTube, a concert held in 2008 during some Contemporary Art festival; unfortunately, the concert (as far as I know) is only available on some pirate bootleg, waiting for some record label with the right guts to immortalize it on phonographic support.
When that finally happens, I’m sure many of us will rush to buy a copy!

Astrud Gilberto and Stan Getz - The Girl From Ipanema (1964) LIVE
And unfortunately, Astrud Gilberto has also left us. It's definitely worth re-listening to her in "The Girl from Ipanema," a song that is always captivating and delightful.

BONGZILLA - C.A.R.T.S (official video) // HEAVY PSYCH SOUNDS Records

Video of the year without a doubt. Magma cooking is sexy. Weed Dragon is increasingly "Average Bob." Muleboy I don't know... well, Muleboy.

The Olivia Tremor Control- Define a Transparent Dream
Among the indie rock bands of the 90s that revisited the pop and psychedelic sounds of the '60s, this is definitely one of the best.
