I’m a simple fascist: I take a song by an anarcho-punk band that mocks the stylistic elements of fascism, don’t understand a damn thing, and praise it.

Gigi D'Alessio: "Giuria di fighetti. E Carlo Conti mi ha tradito"
D'Alessio to Moroder: "you are incompetent" (in Italian music).
So, who is this Giorgio Moroder anyway?
"With people like me, Al Bano, and Ron in the running, they should have called in professionals."
Got it? Professionals, not Giorgio Moroder.

"Jim Morrison & The Doors on Tour" (22)
The only piece of "Celebration Of The Lizard" to make it onto the album. The origin of the song once again highlights Morrison's literary knowledge. The opening lines are taken from "The Golden Bough" by JG Fraser, a book that represented for him much of what shamanism (or shamans, or whatever) entailed, primitive ritual dances, and tribal cultures in general (his circular "dance" on stage is an example of this). In an otherwise subdued album, this track gave nightmares; a repetitive riff and hammering drumming created a dark and gloomy atmosphere. That line, certainly fitting for charisma and mystery, delivered with the usual biting irony, only increased Morrison's struggles to fully embrace the role of venerated rockstar.
"I am the Lizard King, I can do anything"

Who is Father John Misty? A singer-songwriter who doesn't hide his appreciation for How You Remind Me by Nickelback, just as Mark Kozelek pays tribute to I'm Not in Love by 10cc with a beautiful piano cover. These are not provocations but bursts of personality that make certain artists capable of breaking patterns and prejudices. The result is evident in tracks like these. Songs that deserve to soar high.

I felt passed. Violent Femmes - Blister in the Sun my son, hearing this classic, asked me what this shit was. Help me, he dresses like a rapper, if he says "Bella Zio" I'm gonna take him out. What should I do? Should I get him high a thousand and then see what happens?
