Do you know Melvin Van Peebles? He is basically credited with the "blaxploitation," and for the consecration of Earth Wind & Fire who collaborated on the theme of Sweet Sweetback's Baadasssss Song (an essential film). And Madlib aka Quasimoto? And the much-maligned "Hip hop" that remains one of the most credible expressions of the turn of the century? Quasimoto - Bus ride (Madlib - Melvin Van Peebles)

Why Marcus Miller at 99...?
Try halving the playback speed, and you’ll have an album of pure Vapor from 1984.
This is what it means to be ahead.

The Pop Group - Feed The Hungry But how powerful is the bass on this record? Here, the avant-garde doses of "Y" are canceled out to access the true tribal funky dub. There's certainly no "We are time," but it’s a great second and final masterpiece (because the latest stuff isn't worth anything).

Sorry, but what the hell, I made a mess. I was listening to Lamb (a used CD I just bought and maybe even regret getting..) and then to Nebula.. and it was them that I actually wanted to post, sorry... Yesterday I felt a great concert from Ruben Romano's new band and it made me nostalgic for Nebula, whom I liked a lot! And here I am again Nebula - Carpe Diem (Official Video)

The Doors - Roadhouse Blues (Morrison Hotel)
"Jim Morrison & the Doors on the road" (40)
After an elaborate album, here's the antithesis with a tense and bare record like "Morrison Hotel". The vinyl opens with this legendary hard rock blues that would often kick off their concerts in their last year. The first time it was played was at the "Toronto Rock'n'Roll Revival" where the material for the new album was still "in rehearsal". Jim bought a house in Topanga Canyon (he never owned anything) amidst the rustic tranquility; cold beer and a jukebox were the "attractions" of this small, bucolic tavern to which Jim dedicated the piece. "Keep your eyes on the road and your hands on the wheel" seems to say Jim to Pam, "We're heading to the tavern on the road and we’ll have some fun, babe." For the harmonica part, John Sebastian was called (he's the one credited as G.Pugliese). It's done now; Morrison seeks isolation even physically. Legendary track, did I already mention it?!
