What were Talk Talk doing at Sanremo 1986? Hollis wasn't even the pretty boy of the band, all hairspray and glossy covers. He certainly wouldn’t have replicated Simon Le Bon, who the year before accidentally tossed his microphone into the air and got caught lip-syncing: a rather unimportant detail in that context of delirium. Life’s what you make it, with Hollis’s pale face, anti-television vibe, hidden behind a pair of sunglasses. Caught up in the festival spectacle, following the big chart successes. I remember that performance. I was nine years old, and it was the thing I liked most about that festival (along with “Senza un briciolo di testa” by Marcella Bella).
