Married since 1984 to artist Martin von Haselberg, Bette Davis Midler, of Jewish and (would you believe it?) Italian descent, was born in Honolulu, the capital and most populous city of Hawaii, the 50th state of the U.S.A. in, um, a lady’s age is not to be mentioned...

She works in a canned pineapple factory as a worker to support herself while attending university.

In '69 she starts working on Broadway (New York) after taking classes at the Actor's Studio, founded by the famous Elia Kazan and at that time still directed by Lee Strasberg, so by 1970 she snagged a "Tony Award" as an actress.

At the same time, she begins singing in some venues in New York and in the bars of some gay saunas, and in '73 she won a "Grammy Award" for her first album, "The Divine Miss M".

She duets with Tom Waits in '76, and three years later she makes her film debut with her masterful performance (earning her an Oscar nomination for Best Actress) in the film "The Rose," inspired by the biography of Janis Joplin, in which BM sings with her own voice.

In her own little way, she has sold over 30,000,000 records worldwide, starred in 25 films, and has at least 19 albums to her credit—no small feat!
