Diana Ross & The Supremes "Forever Came Today" on The Ed Sullivan Show

#edsullivanshow

From 1948 to 1971, every Sunday night Ed Sullivan hosted the greatest and most famous artists on his show, aired on CBS. About ten years ago, repackaged in 12 DVDs, an Italian newspaper published the best performances. I'm sharing them again; there are truly wonderful things.

Would you like to try something new?
A brief (and by necessity not exhaustive) tour through the extraordinary musical heritage of Naples.
Lina Sastri - Tarantella del Gargano (tratto dal DVD per la strada)

In 1953, Alan Lomax came to Italy and stayed for a year. I hope you know who Alan Lomax is (perhaps the foremost scholar of traditional music and song of the 20th century). Lomax particularly studied the musical traditions of the South, providing a fundamental boost to this type of research (not forgetting the writings of De Martino). Scholars like Carpitella, Leydi, and Sassu continued these studies.
What emerged is an extraordinary heritage of tarantellas, pizziche, tammurriate, and much more that are continuously performed and reinterpreted today; just think of the "notte della taranta."
This "Tarantella del Gargano," a mix of Neapolitan, Calabrian, and Foggian, is one of the most beautiful.
Here it is performed (magnificently, in my opinion) by Lina Sastri, who, at one point, established herself as one of the best interpreters of traditional Neapolitan music.
This small taste of one of her shows helps to understand why she is so loved in Naples.

On Y.T's page, a nice surprise
NES – Ahlam (2018 - Album)
I haven't looked it up because the "mystery" (my ignorance, let's call things by their right names) increases the charm of the work. Sublime ethnic music, I believe Middle Eastern, with a beautiful female voice.
It's worth listening to.

The Nomads - Call off Your Dogs

Journey “The Nomads” between originals and covers, all sublime (17)

Los Pirañas - Salvemos Nuestro Folclor

Anyway, it's clear that there's some good stuff going around in Bogotá.

Scorpions - Every Minute Every Day (2015 Remaster)
Here's the right link, sorry guys!

Castellina & Pasi orchestra folk - BELA BURDELA 1971 = "la gramadora" brano dialettale romagnolo
Ingrandisci questa immagine

Castellina & Pasi folk orchestra from Faenza (RA) BELA BURDELA ... fresh and rustic 1971 danceable waltz version of an ancient Romagnolo song from the twenties: "A Gramadora". A historical note. It refers to the rural customs at the time when hemp was processed: an autumnal ritual. Amid the quick and rhythmic beating of the mallets, skillfully handled by the beautiful girls of our Romagnolo countryside, flourishes a love idyll, characteristic and ardent in its proud rustic roughness.

......And I know it will be beautiful
Like our women are
They know how to live with a strength that pulls you along
But have you ever truly looked at them?
They smile at you with their hearts
In their gazes, they do not hide fear
Where they are, though, they are unique
It's at work
They are with the men
And they fight alongside them......(quote)

"The Tarantola" #1997 by Ci s'ha fa is part of the series "Taccuini-Collana di Musica Aliena", a treasure chest of small unknown Italian gems.
Ci s'ha-Libero o amato I wouldn't know how to define them, perhaps simply as "Alien Rural Folk". If you get the chance, try to listen to them; beneath that surface, there truly slithers something sweetly chaotic, even if gently soothing.

MC Hammer - U Can't Touch This (Official Music Video)

Among the bearers of the most hideous clothing in the history of music videos, our MCMartello has been an absolute pioneer.

It's just a shame that the deflated-bulb pants didn't catch on as much as they should have.

Raven - To the Limit/To the Top
Imagine Judas with sudden tempo changes at the edge of prog.
