Evil Hoodoo

The Essential Albums: “THE SEEDS”

“… even better is Evil Hoodoo where the repetitiveness becomes oppressive to the point of disgust, with a brief fuzzed-out riff repeated for five minutes and fourteen seconds without any variation, as if it were the premonition of a nightmare by Suicide. The entire album persists in this spasmodic, cathartic persecution of the one foundational concept of the Seeds' sound: hypnotism. Musical and verbal reiteration, a maniacal search for perverse pleasure, yielding to the erotic drive through compulsive and neurotic music that is anthropologically linked to the mechanical/sexual concept of masturbation.”

Botumles Pit - 13 Stories High

It’s the excitement of a moment, perhaps two. That’s why it works especially for a 45 RPM, often with titles and names distorted on the masters and labels of the vinyl. Further confirmation of a sloppiness that dominated all phases of the process. For many others, it won’t work at all, getting stuck in the limited space and finances of a demo tape, a reel, a cassette.”

Demolition Doll Rods - Tasty - Psycho Kitty

But from Michigan, especially from Detroit, Michigan... is there anyone who sucks??!! Naaaaiiinnn!!! Another great band with that lovable delinquent Dan Groha (Gories) accompanied by two terribly Ruock little sisters. Garage-glam-punk... the usual second course that satisfies you while leaving you feeling light, savansadir.

Reigning Sound - Funny Thing

Besides Mick Collins, another beautiful bastard Devil-Wizard of the genre is Greg - Oblivians - Cartwright. Legendary with the Oblivians, immense with the Compulsive Gamblers, and superb with this his other magnificent creature.

The third album, wrapped in a fiery red cover and with a title that is nothing short of evocative, is the masterpiece. R&B, Soul, Country, Gospel, all stuffed, displayed, and sprinkled with that sensible and crooked rock and roll style of the Oblivians: perfect!

“Ballad alla Catwright”...

Grace Slick - Manhole Theme (1974)

July 1974.....and in the meantime our count has reached 83.....take that!!
