This time I disagree with the reviewer: the main theme of Trumbo's anti-war message isn't pacifism, but the "war" that should be waged against relentless medical intervention, understanding that one places themselves in God's position (for those who believe) when they attach a man to a machine to keep him alive, and not when they disconnect him from the machine. In even simpler terms: it's a film (from 1971, based on a book by Trumbo from 1938) pro euthanasia... Is it still so strange that in devoutly Catholic Italy it remains semi-unknown to this day?
