Manic Street Preachers Lifeblood

An album unjustly underrated by many.
I believe that songs like "1985" (which sounds like New Order), "Empty souls", and "Emily" are of undeniable value.
Another absolute gem: the fantastic guitar solo in the middle of "Glasnost"; it's spine-chilling.

Three and a half stars for this album... there are some great tracks like "Dead martyrs," "So why so sad" (even though it’s quite retro, I consider it a good piece), "Ocean spray" (which recalls "Kevin Carter" with the addition of the trumpet solo), and the power of "Found that soul."
Finally, I want to praise the guitar riff in "The convalescent" in the second part of the song: I can never tire of listening to it, it’s fantastic.

This is one of those classic albums that should be listened to and listened to again... definitely a good piece of work. The first half is particularly beautiful.

As for the two unreleased tracks, "There by the grace of God" seems very bland to me, while "Door to the river" is a nice piece.

Beautiful review for a stunning album.
Without Richey, the MSP start to change their genre, gradually moving towards less "strong" songs.
Many masterpieces are contained in this album, from the incredible closing track "No surface all feeling" to "Kevin Carter" (the trumpet interlude is truly fantastic), from "A design for life" to "Small black flower that grow in the sky"... etc. etc.
I also really like the title track...

"Open your eyes" is a really great piece... I was also struck by the cover of "Big in Japan" by Alphaville.

She is amazing... I "met" her through her collaborations with the Chemical Brothers. The duet in "The State We're In" from "Come with Us" is particularly beautiful.
