Tom Waits Blue Valentine
Voto:
Beautiful review that makes me (almost) not regret the fact that it was on my to-do list, even though I hadn't even started it yet. This album is one of the most beautiful by Tom Waits, and it is highly recommended for those wanting to approach this shadowy and anti-aesthetic artist, much more than other somewhat challenging masterpieces like "Rain Dogs" or "Franks Wild Years," which can shock anyone who has never heard Tom Waits.
Pink Floyd The Dark Side Of The Moon
Voto:
A bit too much hostility directed at this review, which, in an objective sense, would be acceptable. There have been much worse. The problem is that this is now the third or fourth review, and moreover on an album that perhaps even some Max Pezzali fans are familiar with, on which everything and its opposite has already been said, making it hard to add anything new.
Paolo Conte Parole d'amore scritte a macchina
Voto:
P.S. I only disagree on one point: "Una faccia in prestito" seems to me much more than just a good album, but it has a variety of ideas comparable only to that of "Aguaplano," albeit with some very slight flaws. As for the dream called "Razmataz," it may have fallen short, but not by much, and it was indeed a very ambitious project. This translates into the 5 given to "Una faccia in prestito" and the 4 given to "Razmataz" in my respective reviews.
Francesco Guccini Stanze di vita quotidiana
Voto:
I believe that these appearances are more a sign of self-irony than of foolishness: Guccini is someone who, while saying very serious and sometimes demanding things, has never taken himself too seriously. Anyone who has attended one of his concerts knows that between songs, maybe those existential ones that send chills down your spine like "Canzone quasi d'amore" or "Canzone delle domande consuete," he slips in a break filled with pub jokes, and on one album, there’s even a recorded testimony ("I fichi") of this aspect of our great singer-songwriter-narrator, serious yes, but only to a certain point.

I almost forgot: a perfect, comprehensive, and detailed review just as I like it. Not just a 5, but I consider it among the recommended ones.

Really strange album, one of the very few from the Attorney that leaves me somewhat unconvinced (the synthesizer experiment in "La canoa di mezzanotte," "Il maestro" with its introduction and the subsequent opera parody chorus, certain melodic involutions in "Eden" and "Un vecchio errore"). An album that is only beautiful and not stunning, which seems like a slight misstep for someone who has spoiled us with a slew of masterpieces, even if it isn't.
Giorgio Gaber Far finta di essere sani
Voto:
Finally, my review of Gaber, which has been standing alone for over a year, finds a companion, an excellent companion, worthy of an epoch-making and fundamental album. Considering that Jovanotti has 5 or 6 reviews on this site, including even a few that take him seriously, there's plenty of ground to cover, but for now...
Francesco Guccini Stanze di vita quotidiana
Voto:
If songs were judged solely by the concepts contained within them and the words used to express those concepts, it would probably be one of the most beautiful albums ever produced by our singer-songwriters. Unfortunately, or rather fortunately, there’s also the music, and here I feel inclined to agree with Ajeje. The damage inflicted by Pier Farri here is even more evident than in "Radici": you can't dress a serious and reflective ballad like "Canzone delle osterie fuori porta" with marimbas, congas, and carnival antics, just to give an example. Excellent review.
Bruce Springsteen The River
Voto:
In defense of the "fracchione" that Enea talks about (who would then be puntinicaz), it must be said that in the last two reviews of Bruce Springsteen (Darkness on the edge... and this one, at least for now), he refrained from the usual outbursts like "Bruss = cacca" and similar comments. This works in his favor, and I hope I have somehow contributed as well, when I advised him some time ago to ignore the reviews on Springsteen. As for the rest, what can I say? This, along with "Born to run," is the peak achievement reached by Bruce, and it deserves such a passionate review.
Edoardo Bennato Sono solo canzonette
Voto:
Is 4 the trendy number? But maybe even the modest Bennato didn't deserve such a numerical delirium. I feel very childish, and at my venerable age, that's not good, so I retreat into my extradebaserian shell until 8 tomorrow morning (as always, alas). I'm already raising suspicions of excessive attachment to work. Bye Enea.
