    Between Monk and Jarrett, there is an abyss (not just 2 positions). It's like saying between Bollani and Allevi.

      Yes, yes, I completely agree that Monk is better. That Jarrett is with Monk what Allevi is with Bollani (even if in reality they don't really belong together, it's still to say "one good, one crap"). And Jarrett is not crap; he has made some mistakes, but in such a huge discography as his, it's understandable. He has also created masterpieces.

      "especially of importance." I care little about this. It’s obvious, it’s true, and you’re right, but what matters more to me is the actual quality. And Monk wins. But Jarrett isn't crap (see Bollani—that other guy) and he has created some good stuff.

      Of course, I wanted to make a joke about Bollani-Allevi, of course. Jarrett is not just anyone, but Inspector Monk is Monk. If I had written pieces better than Monk, Jarrett, or Bollani :-D

      Between Monk and Jarrett, there are exactly: Art Tatum, Herbie Hancock, Bud Powell, McCoy Tyner, Bill Evans, Teddy Wilson, Count Basie, and Oscar Peterson. And Duke Ellington would rank above all, historically speaking. But I can't list them all; I wanted to highlight those I feel most attached to. Thank you for the contributions!
