You don't seem like a "typically" English speaker... :-)

Honestly, I didn't even notice; looking back, I have to say that it's only partly true. There are the great The Who, Pink Floyd, Rolling Stones, Genesis, the great Van Morrison (Irish), the Scottish The Jesus and Mary Chain, the Pretenders even if Chrissie Hynde is American, Joe Jackson, Joy Division, the great Marc Bolan (T. Rex), Brian Eno (half with David Byrne), Joe Cocker, Led Zeppelin, XTC, Jeff Beck, Elvis Costello, The Stranglers, The Libertines, The Yardbirds.

If you have any names to suggest, 10 - 15. If I like it, I have no trouble adding it.

Sure, I said it a bit ironically. You included some very important works, and since it's your ranking, it's right that it reflects your taste. A few suggestions that I think could fit: Soft Machine, Van Der Graaf Generator, King Crimson, Peter Gabriel solo, Hammill solo, ALL of Canterbury ...there would be so many more, but look, this is fine too.

That said, since 99% of the groups are unknown to me, I can get into the details of those I know: Titanic yes, and La Buona Novella or Creuza de Ma, right? And The Dark after Sacroful? Regarding Rem, I agree on Automatic, but in any case, these are personal tastes—nothing to contest.........

I like De Gregori, I could have included other things of his, but Fabrizio De André is not to my taste. In any case, I respect yours. As for Pink Floyd, the ranking is not strictly in order of preference, otherwise it would have taken me ages to make it. Maybe I'll work on it over time, for now it stays like this. If you don't know 99/100 of the ones I've included, I suggest you look them up, they’re all good to me. Bye.

The first two places are wonderfully represented; such works cannot be outside a top ten.

Even though Warhol hated Dylan (and vice versa), for me he is the greatest musical talent of the post-war era. As for the Love, that album represents a moment of happy creativity. They managed to combine rock and flamenco even though they barely stood on their feet when they entered the studio. Beautiful.

The "stimometer" rises again. My favorite song by Young, one of my all-time favorites, pure emotion, icy anger and regret... Then there's the title track, the Manson-style outburst of Revolution... I can confirm that together with the previous one (yes, the previous one) Tonight's the Night it's my favorite Nello, masterpieces among masterpieces. Great Bubi.

Thank you, but it's easier for me to listen to my records, right? If I'm not at home, or at night when I can't sleep, I have my iPod and mp3s :)

It's not a radio like the others, millions of tracks, you create playlists, you can choose an artist and listen to similar ones, it doesn't cost anything and you can listen to it on your phone. Debaser to get to know Spotify to listen.

Yes, but I have a 2006 cellphone that doesn't do anything :D And for the rest, I have the i-pod with all the albums from the i-tunes library. Let's be clear, Spotify seems really cool, I'm not denying that.

I believe you can listen even if you're not connected; you download the tracks (in excellent quality) but you have to pay something. I download them for free with Soulseek.

Wonderful ranking... I won't add anything else... Question: what year are you Bubi? Just one note... the PRIMUS... DAMN...

    • Bubi
      4 jul 14
Thank you, I’ve been following music since I was a child, it’s a true passion of mine. I was born in '54, so... I know the Primus but not very well; when I listened to them, they didn’t capture me like others did, so I didn’t follow them closely. But I must be mistaken because if they are appreciated by everyone, there must be a reason.
For about twenty years, I have also been writing scripts, but selling them in Italy is not an option. Unless you have connections… right? I take this opportunity to ask the editors if it’s possible to publish screenplays as well, maybe in installments. One week a few pages, the next week some more pages… and to have them evaluated as reviews are. However, the rights should remain completely with the writers. This is something I’ve wanted to ask for a long time, and now I’ve done it; at most, they’ll say no.

Finally, I feel young in the presence of a debaserian: I was born in '67... You've put together a superb, wonderful ranking with so much Music that I also love and will listen to forever. And it’s always a great pleasure to interact with such knowledgeable and, above all, respectful and polite people. If I haven't done it already, I rush to deamarti. Primus are my number ONE, but that doesn’t matter at this point.

      4 jul 14
Did you read the part about the scripts? I added it later, maybe you didn't have time to see it... what do you think?
    • De...Marga...
      4 jul 14
I think you mean movie scripts.
    • Bubi
      4 jul 14
Yes, at first for TV series, "Derrik" "Colombo" to be clear, then I also wrote some slightly more complex things, almost always criminal stories. Almost always...
    • De...Marga...
      4 jul 14
I find the thing interesting even though from a cinematic point of view I’m completely ignorant. To give you an example, I’ve never seen Pulp Fiction… However, I’m musically up to date and very interested!!!!
    • Bubi
      4 jul 14
I wrote the review of Pulp Fiction. I was at zero too before writing, then, little by little... You know, it's frustrating to write with great effort and then see that selling the work is almost impossible. M. Morandini told me this about twenty years ago and he was right; at most, I managed to talk to Cesare Biarese from Mediaset, who told me that they had the schedules complete, there was no hope. Yet a lot of people read them, the reviews have always been positive. That's why it's frustrating.
    • De...Marga...
      4 jul 14
Sure, it's not easy to accept all of this; and if you tell me that those who read it appreciated it, the regret increases and I completely understand you. Unfortunately, I have been unemployed since last November with certainly not encouraging prospects for the future; fortunately, I have a wonderful family, very few but true Friends, and my Beloved Music.
    • Bubi
      4 jul 14
We hope to at least get a response from the editors, just to put a period on things. Unfortunately, in these times, few have encouraging prospects; it’s already a lot that you have a nice family. Believe me. I don’t have anyone anymore; I live alone in a mountain village where everyone speaks German. I have (perhaps I should say I had) a partner who is in Rome, in a few days I’m going to visit her... I have a feeling that if this damned crisis (but is it really a crisis?) doesn’t end, Italy will become a second-rate country. Let’s hope we make it.

I come back again near your ranking to tell you the following: you say that you included the names somewhat randomly, following an order of what came to mind. But how nice it is to see good old Bob from Duluth at NUMBER ONE nonetheless.

  • Bubi
    22 jul 14
At first, I did it this way, then I adjusted it, and the first 50 or so roughly match my tastes today. The others are still in disarray. For Bob, I included that one, but he's such a towering artist that there are at least 7 albums that, for me, could belong in the ranking.
