Giant Sand

Ballad of a Thin Line Man Pinhead

The version given by Giant Sand is a relentless rock filled with electricity and distortions—an original reinterpretation of a rock classic.

If you listen to music of this kind in the desert, I found the ideal place to live, without needing to go to hell.

You and Ballad of a Thin Line Man

Giant Sand

Giant Sand is an American band from Tucson, Arizona, led by singer-songwriter Howe Gelb. Emerging from the early-’80s Giant Sandworms, they blended desert atmospheres with Americana, country, blues, punk edge and lo‑fi experimentation. Their debut Valley of Rain (1985) set a jagged tone, followed by landmarks like Ballad of a Thin Line Man, Swerve, Chore of Enchantment, Is All Over ... the Map and Provisions. Alumni include Joey Burns and John Convertino, later of Calexico.
