"Outside your door in Montreal, tears are falling to the ground.. Thank you for being there."
He was also Magnificent a few days ago: “The Nobel for Dylan?... How to give a medal to Everest because it’s the highest mountain in the world.”
In "You want it darker": «I’m ready my Lord» Leonard Cohen - You Want It Darker (Audio) Cohen speaks directly to God with his usual tone: «We lit millions of candles for help that never came (…) I wish there were an armistice between your love and mine». And in It seemed the better way he wisely reiterates: «It seemed the right way when I first heard him speak. Now it’s really too late, To turn the other cheek. It seemed the truth, But it’s not the truth today».
"The MASTER of LOVE and DARKNESS IS NOT GONE HE JUST... MOVED" ;)

Nothing much, but I've been racking my brains all morning trying to remember where and when I had seen a black and white western film (because back then we had a black and white TV) in a showcase from about thirty years ago. Well, it was on Rai and the soundtrack was almost entirely made up of tracks by Leonard Cohen. I remembered that one of the actors was the young Keith Carradine (the one from Nashville & The Duellists) and the director was the great Robert Altman. It wasn't hard to find the title; the original is "McCabe & Mrs. Miller," which became "I compari" in Italy... eeeh, the moths of memory have really dug deep this time. I remember it as a beautiful film with a bitter ending... McCabe & Mrs. Miller (1971) Trailer

I have never believed in certain malevolent and unfortunate aspects that are said to characterize leap years as a source of trouble and misfortunes, but how terrible this 2016 is, with such a long sequence of deaths and tragedies.

This year has already repeated itself several times, especially for those who are not so young anymore; losing a free and gentle soul, even if rebellious, distant and solitary, like Leonard Cohen’s, feels like losing part of one’s roots. Even though his beautiful songs will remain, yesterday, another great one who accompanied us for many years left us quietly, just as he was accustomed to.

That don't make it junk - Leonard Cohen

Too late to mix another drink, the lights are going out...

There are news you never want to hear, and yet, despite the age, one never truly resigns. One of the soundtracks of my days, the singer-songwriter par excellence, I used to say, forcibly comparing him to Faber as if it were a competition. The truth is that rankings don’t exist and that today, just like yesterday, Leonard remains unique and unparalleled. Yes, it will truly be a shit day...
