A few lines are certainly not enough. Here is all of Morrison at that moment: depressed, angry, drunk but always brilliant. Probably the most "furious" piece, in every sense, of the entire discography. Morrison never explained the lyrics to anyone; even the title has sparked various and useless conjectures. A call to arms against the system?! A mockery of the hippie movement and its failure?! Jim was disgusted by both the power and the counterculture of the "flower children." Densmore says in his (my beloved) book that, after a pause, Jim asked him if he could start with a tribal 4/4 beat, over which he then poured all of his anger.
