todd dillingham spinning in a whirl
I don’t know what strange astral interaction led me to have two records by this gentleman. Psychedelic pop with roots firmly planted between the late 60s and the very early 70s. Each song is like a dart that sticks to a photograph. Canterbury pop with a fish in hand dressed in Beatles uniforms. Barrett is present, but dressed in Victorian sequins, and the good Robyn is slyly always there, along with digressions into psycho proto-prog. In short, a work from a craftsman now of retirement age who has magically pulled out of his hat his mastery in dancing on colorful staves like a young lad. If you get the chance, don’t let it pass you by.

#BIVI § Vic Godard The Subway Sect - Make me sad
These songs opened my heart to a singer-songwriter style that, in my ignorance, I imagine as ā€œtyped on a typewriter in a smoky room with a glass filled to two fingers,ā€ I'm romantic. But I was enchanted by bittersweet melodies that I somehow found in the early works of Heafner (or whatever they’re called) or in the musings of their writer sitting observing the patrons of a bar. But these are conjectures from an ignorant self-taught person to be taken with a grain of salt. Anyway, pages that have somehow helped shape my musical vision.

If memory serves right, check out Harfield And The North, a lovely crush. My brother introduced me to this strange name, and it was love with a capital L. I want to emphasize that my listening experiences are quite distant from their releases; I’m 44 years old, and you can do the math. Nevertheless, this album was helpful because it somehow made me feel that Italy was less of a province of the empire and lifted a discriminatory veil towards realities outside the usual map. That said, I still don't appreciate Area all that much, which, when I was less mature, used to weigh on me a bit; I wonder why.
