Try to imagine being French, having a president who shuts everything down at midnight but invites you to vote the next day despite over 6,500 infections.
Then try to imagine being German, with your chancellor announcing a probable contagion that will affect 70% of the population without making major decisions.
Pretend to be British, with the prime minister announcing that many will have to get used to losing their loved ones, as if it were a normal thing, while waiting to see over 400,000 people die.
Imagine feeling Spanish, and seeing your president Sanchez declare a state of emergency, shutting everything down and emulating Italy, only when he discovers that his wife tests positive, as if 7,500 cases weren't enough.
Finally, picture yourself as an American, where a president, photographed with a positive case, first refuses to get tested, then does so and offers a billion dollars to a pharmaceutical company for exclusive access to the vaccine, then declares a state of emergency and his people line up outside stores, not only grocery stores, but especially those selling guns and ammunition.
Now, I would like to ask everyone: in which of these countries would you want to live during this time?
Because I always repeat the famous phrase by Marchionne, “sometimes we should be less ashamed, much less ashamed of being Italian.”
Good morning, everyone.
I received this via WhatsApp; I don’t know who wrote it, but I liked it.
