Going Somewhere
Bailing On Me
Slow and steady, and so on and so forth.

@[tia] here's my favorite track by the Boston pixies!! And in a live setting, you can admire all the brilliance of Kim Deal on bass. I still regret not being able to see the band live in the '80s and '90s... Pixies.- The Happening (Live at Brixton 1991) HQ

“Fuck you all!” Tim Buckley must have thought after the end of the illusion that everything was possible and that his was THE Vision.
Like a new Icarus, he goes to melt his wings aboard the spaceship Starsailor, getting help from his dangerous Muse. Ridiculed by the audience who would like to pin him to the stereotype of the progressive folksinger, but only to a certain point, and opposed by part of the critics, with the Parùn starting to feel perplexed, because records are selling poorly now.
How can you not harbor resentment? “You want the shit? You want to dance? I'll even make songs about sex, is that good for you?”
But since, if you're Tim Buckley, being completely shit and defeated isn't something you manage to pull off, it's fine to be an entertainer but you can't help, every now and then, to throw a piece of yourself to those assholes. You never know, they might change their minds, and instead of snickering because lately you seemed more like Tarzan than a singer, they might realize the immense work you've done.

Even though the creative decline is slow and merciless, and even if the voice, too, was cracking, tired and disappointed, here the Artist still raises his head, sensing that sooner or later he will manage to give his music the direction he wants. It sounds pathetic, given how things have turned out.

Yet, three remarkable pieces.

Scotland's response to the divine Prefab Sprout is called Deacon Blue, and Raintown is simply an album for eternal love. The intro Born In A Storm is the best introduction to Ricky Ross's voice: piano turns, deep bass that remind me of another intro, that of Telegraph Road, and one of the most expressive voices ever. Dignity is undoubtedly the Scottish anthem, as sublime and emotional as it gets, one of those songs that always stirs something inside you. The same feelings are conveyed by Loaded, an exemplary Pop composition where not a single note is out of place. And what can we say about Ragman, Town To Be Blamed, Love's Great Fears, or Chocolate Girl, with the voices of Ricky and Lorraine McIntosh so perfectly tuned they could make Paddy and Wendy from Prefab jealous. A must-have from 1987! 💎

I would also be quite curious, but I don't know if Domenico & Cristiano can be compared to those other two cops over there.
And anyway, if necessary, I will go buy the ticket at the old, dear "box office," if it still exists.
I don't trust my life expectancy at all. Gawrsc!

Pixies - The Night the Zombies Came (Full Album) 2024 suddenly this album comes out of nowhere that I wasn't aware of. A question for @[De...Marga...]: what, but especially who, comes to mind when listening to Motoroller? I want both the song and the band!

Don Matteo's brother (Don Mattone) performs with flair at the Parish fair.

Elliott Smith - Needle In The Hay (from Elliott Smith)

At one point, the paranoia was total, and you didn’t know what to believe anymore. Vans following him, record company staff breaking into his home to steal his songs, his left hand going numb and not waking up… it had become impossible to perform live…

Fragile and wonderful like Nick Drake, say those who know the two stories…

His songs are his everyday life: days spent getting drunk, using crack and heroin, wounded by pain and wanting to give it all up…

He gets arrested thinking he’s a crazy homeless man, falls drunkenly off a cliff but miraculously saves himself, even tries to detox… for a few days…

On October 21, 2003, his girlfriend finds him with a knife lodged in his chest. Instinctively, she pulls it out before calling an ambulance.

“I’m so sorry, Love. Elliott. God forget me,” reads a note on the table…

The girl's account is full of contradictions… suicide or murder…

But who cares, in the end.

I’ve only recently “met” him… fortunately…

Goodbye, Elliott…

The early albums of Level 42, with their exquisite Fusion, remain one of the highest expressions of the Smooth Jazz/Funky Pop melting pot. However, the dizzying ascent on the charts comes with World Machine, where the magic of their beginnings is still not overly tarnished. Our guys deliver the magnificent Lying Still and Sleep On My Heart, the title track with that irresistible groove akin to Yello's Stella, approach the more tribal XTC with the Dub of Physical Presence, and show no mercy with the hit Something About You.
Used LP but in excellent condition...1985! ⚙️🔩
