Pop Group For How Much Longer Do We Tolerate Mass Murder?
Voto:
Fantastic review: I agree on almost everything. The album is a gem, even if it doesn't reach the sublime levels and expressive power of Y. How Much brilliantly preludes the future projects of the heirs of the Pop Group, such as the exquisite Rip Rig & Panic and the incredible Maffia (a.k.a. Tackhead, the band of M. Stewart, one of the great voices of all time).

Minutemen What Makes A Man Start Fires?
Voto:
Fantastic record. In 26 minutes of duration, there are musical ideas that could feed dozens of careers. A treasure trove of inventions. It’s not the masterpiece of the Minutemen for obvious reasons (read: Double Nickels). Compared to the giant of '84, "What makes" is more dissonant and more overlaid, yet still equally inspired.

The review is really beautiful, Ege... I listened to the album for the first time the other day and it literally shocked me! We are well beyond the Pop Group (which was already quite cerebral!), well beyond new-wave and, above all, well beyond rock... I'll listen to it a few more times and then maybe I'll vote for it...

Beautiful...chaotic, but beautiful...they used quite a bit of electronics for their time...we're almost at Zappa levels...Perfect review.

"Rollins without Black Flag is like chili without spaghetti: a senseless atrocity." <<< I disagree, Moustache: Hot Animal Machine and especially Life Time are two devastating albums. Atrocious, yes, but absolutely sensible! ;-) (not just thanks to Henry, but also due to the skill of the musicians)

@ Lord: Is rock about having fun?? Not necessarily... and who says Iggy Pop wasn't having fun singing with the Stooges? But then, excuse me, I get the impression that you have something against Iggy Pop because he did drugs... now I say: do you have any idea how much drugs Jim Morrison (and many of your other idols) took?? I really don’t understand... :-/
