Ligabue Buon compleanno, Elvis!
Voto:
Are you ranting about rock? Assorted clichés? The usual 5 chords? Maybe, but guys, insulting an artist regardless of their work means being intellectually dishonest. And as an old fan of Liga (ready to disown him from "Miss Mondo" onwards, despite some previous glaring missteps), I cannot deny that this "Buon compleanno, Elvis" contains nice songs, a bit of Bolognese rock flair (and why can’t Bolognese rock exist?), a guaranteed hit ("Certe notti"), some basic philosophy ("Leggero"), and a couple of dull and repetitive tracks ("Il cielo è vuoto o il cielo è pieno," "Un figlio di nome Elvis"), but giving this album a 1 is being disingenuous, snobbish, and an admirer of cultured music that, newsflash, has never existed.

1 to the review, 3 to the album: the reason is not hard to imagine.
Jethro Tull Benefit
Voto:
As always, the review is excellent; the album is a bit less beautiful than usual, and perhaps from the early period of Jethro Tull, it's the least convincing. And still, yes, to define it as dark and somber is not heresy; "Stand Up" (which I still consider their masterpiece) was not so closed and introverted. The music, as usual, is of high quality.
Jethro Tull Living In The Past
Voto:
Nice, not incredibly beautiful ("Acqualung" was a whole other planet), but for a live performance, it’s not bad at all; in fact, amidst idiotic and insignificant commercial operations, if we had more live shows like this, we could only rejoice. Naturally, Jethro Tull were by no means amateurs, and the superb quality of this double live album is mainly due to their musical cohesiveness and the charisma of the undisputed leader Ian Anderson. A truly lovely review (one of the best to have appeared recently on DeBaser).
Queen Flash Gordon (original soundtrack)
Voto:
Another nonsense from Queen: the soundtrack is shameful and the movie was pathetic. The Queen of the eighties should not be considered, unfortunately, they sold in droves, thanks (or rather, because of) people like Frank1979.

I reject it and give it a 1: pompous and boring, the same old stuff, the usual clichés... Not even the collaboration with David Bowie deserves a shred of consideration.
The Rolling Stones Stripped
Voto:
The business operation has its reasons, and many tracks reworked after years seem to convey softness and warmth, while once they were all about grit and raging rock'n'roll. We are in the midst of a Rolling Stones crisis (since "Start Me Up," they haven't hit the mark with half an album), but here they are less unpalatable than on other occasions (just look at the last mediocre "A Bigger Bang"), but you’ll reserve a full 5 for other things.
Queen Sheer Heart Attack
Voto:
I confirm my negative judgment on Queen (remember my review "The Works"?), but I must say that this "Sheer Heart Attack" is not bad at all; in fact, it might be one of the best along with "A Night at the Opera." "Killer Queen" is a super-commercial track, but it’s fundamentally quite well-executed.
