I have already expressed my opinion in my review... this is a 4.5 album - since Fragile is a 5 and The Downward Spiral is so much superior that it doesn’t deserve a rating. This is the only Reznor album where there is some drop in tension, but it contains gems among the best in his discography—see Beside You in Time, Sunspots, The Line Begins to Blur, All the Love in the World, and the incredible Right Where It Belongs, a song of indescribable beauty, and one of Reznor's best lyrics. This album needs to be understood, and it fits into a musical journey that is more coherent than ever, never looking back, and instead has always been willing to question itself.

I like it more than Lateralus... both for the arrangements and the sound (and I like Lateralus a lot). That background guitar in track 7 is something fabulous... The first listen of this album literally struck me, as it has happened to me few times. Now, after the 5th or 6th listen, I would say that giving my eardrums a rest might be wise, but we’ll see if I can resist. Who's coming to Bologna?
