Carmen Consoli L'anfiteatro e la bambina impertinente
Voto:
it's just overrated, like everyone else trying to fill the unfillable void of historic songwriting...

I heard it only once, so my judgment is very limited... What I find is that it’s anything but new, and I fear this is its biggest limitation... (things already done by Him, as well as -obviously- by Waits). I repeat, though...: I need to listen again.

for Piergiorgio: I return the compliments, and I never refuse wine, not even virtual. as for the other one up there...: why has the freedom of judgment been conditioned by your tastes or definitions...? if I think that anyone who prefers Ferrobattuto to L'era del Cinghiale Bianco is a pseudo-intellectual kid under thirty, I can't say that (maybe it's because it's true....???)

Turin is a city that I love and visit, sometimes for work, sometimes for musical and gastronomic pleasures. It's almost halfway because I live between TO and PC... when I come to Turin, I get lost in the jazz section of FNAC, where I always find something...
Franco Battiato La Voce Del Padrone

you know how I feel (like you do): this is Battiato at his best, and anyone who says otherwise is either a recent pseudo-intellectual or, more simply, wasn't around then and is unable to grasp the greatness of the work...

Ringostarfish: tastes are tastes... but on Papetti and Roxy there were some seriously hot chicks... Anyway. I wanted to specify: "te amo corazon" is an unmitigated crap, moreover winking at the Latin market (the only one still buying records) and just for its opportunism it deserves a strong rejection. About the recent albums: "rainbow" is nice but compositionally poor, NEWS is interesting as it’s only instrumental, but nothing extraordinary; "musicology" is frankly a bad album, very poor and extremely dated both in sounds and in a broader sense. If you want to hear something good recently from the Prince, listen to, if you can find them, "one nite alone" a super minimalist and beautiful album (just voice, piano, and very little guitar), and "one nite alone live" a triple official live (the first of his career!!!), from a few years ago, a chronicle of the beautiful concerts of the early 2000s. There he is still himself. Then he got very close to the idea I have of a pathetic caricature... unfortunately...

for mikornr: have you ever heard "and the meanwhile Dustin Hoffman..."? I think it was '84. I say it and I confirm it: it wasn't just a great album, it was a magnificent one, wonderfully written, beautifully played (Dalla and all the Stadio from back then) and interpreted brilliantly. a lot of promises only minimally kept...

want you...and why...? everyone is free to say what they think (anywhere and especially here...!), and you (in my opinion) are certainly not among the worst. the fact, however, that (by your own admission) you do not know Rava would lead me to ask you "how are we doing with jazz...?" since I would hope that you are not one of those who deny that the true classical music of the twentieth century is the so-called Afro-American music (and for me the best "Leggera" and "author music"...but here -as we know- we do not agree). if that is the case, I think that, with the utmost respect, there is no possible dialogue.

beautiful album and excellent review, entirely shareable, especially in identifying the work as the ideal closure of an era... already mentioned elsewhere...: but is it "te amo corazon"...? ...incredible...

very beautiful and interesting record...whether the character is -in a broad sense- overrated...well...that's another matter (which I am convinced of, though...)
