Recently, the race of unlucky singer-songwriters seemed finally on the verge of extinction, but with this new CD, Luca Carboni fully re-enters the group.
In the past, the Bolognese artist had proven to be a good music composer, attuned to the sounds of our time. However, now Carboni has chosen to definitively abandon the electronic choices previously adopted, minimizing the use of non-acoustic sounds. Minimalist texts and scores, full of diminutives and sweet talk which, even in these difficult times, are not at all comforting, but rather irritating.
Eleven new ballads full of sickly sweetness that blatantly wink at a female audience from soap operas, completely abandoning that search for new sounds that seemed to emerge in his previous, more ambitious works, which, however, were not rewarded with gratifying sales success.
I thought Carboni’s aspiration was not to become a hit parade star regardless of the quality of his products, and after the compilation of hits, I was waiting for him to prove himself with an album of new songs. Rather than the desire to cry that he seems to have, I felt the urge to immediately remove the disc from the CD player and set it aside for a Christmas gift to a particularly annoying friend. Said and done. Best wishes.
"Silvia Lo Sai"... a poetic song about drugs, a charming yet treacherous woman that can destroy love and friendship.
"Farfallina" reminds me that loneliness and happiness have the same face, that of a butterfly, flying so high it’s impossible to touch.
The album stands out for its sincerity and strong songwriting.
Fans of Italian pop will appreciate this release.
