Memorable is the solo debut "Viva Hate" (damn, it sounded like The Smiths), and equally great is the recent "You Are The Quarry." This album comes a close second. The rest of our friend's solo production is rather forgettable. Three and a half stars. Four for the persona.

The boy has talent, there's no doubt about it. I'm wide awake it's morning, contains at least 3/4 gems that most songwriters couldn't even dream of writing. I haven't listened to the other one, but I don't think it's my style. He needs to learn to take it down a notch. He can't release two or three albums a year!

What has always left me puzzled about Edoardo Bennato is his singing style and his voice, which can sometimes be truly shrill. A bit like Carmen Consoli. Certainly uncommon talents, but the voice and the way of singing can also be irritating. Nevertheless, this is a good album.

I don't know why, but Aztec Camera are one of those bands that have always only brushed past me. I've heard a few songs here and there, and I own just one of their albums. They’re like those women you find attractive, but who lack that sex-appeal that ignites a fire within you, and so you end up snubbing them and looking elsewhere. I place Roddy Frame in the category of "wasted" talents.
