I don't know him well (I mostly listened to the live version on the go), but from what I've heard, he seems capable of writing beautiful lyrics, perhaps not at the level of the masters, but still with many well-developed ideas. Musically, however, I struggle to appreciate him: too redundant, too many sounds, lacking simplicity, which doesn't mean poverty but rather lightness.

@ Psychopompe: not even a boob is in sight! And when Scarlett and Penelope kiss, they don't turn anyone on. Besides, getting turned on by a Woody Allen film seems like a real case for analysis. Then again, everyone has their own perversions: having Penelope in her slip screaming and smoking like a Turkish woman wouldn't be so bad...

but the cover is beautiful...

Well, I only know that in 1978 Battiato's album 'L'egitto prima delle sabbie' won the Stockhausen award, and I don’t know if you’ve ever had the chance to listen to it. And that in 1977 the good (well...) Enzo Molucci dedicated one of the gems of his Barbari and Bar, the fiery 'Chi ha interrotto Stockhausen?' to the 'master,' and guess what, it was him who interrupted him... full respect for the name, but someone who claims to come from Sirius...

Thanks for the last comments. Now I know I'm not completely out of my mind. After all, I wrote it right after watching (and the person who was with me shared my opinion) and it seemed like we were the only two thinking that way. Then I browsed around for other reviews and saw that the opinions are widely divergent.
@telespallabob: I'm not from Brescia but very northern, and among us northern Bergamasques and Brescians, they are the archetypes of produce-consume-die.

The point is that 'Life is Beautiful' (which, by the way, didn't thrill me) was a huge stroke of luck that can't be replicated. And it was appreciated more abroad than here, where fairy tales are still viewed with a critical eye. Pinocchio is a dreadful pulp, The Tiger and the Snow is a dreadful pulp. Good feelings and that's it. But good feelings require an extra dose of art and genius to avoid becoming crap. That's the point.
Then you can also read the Divine Comedy. You can do whatever you want, but the interesting things are in many other places.

Seen a few years ago with a communist friend who actually liked it. I think it's worse than Liga's albums (which are crap). The reason: it’s truly annoying, superficial, unable to convey real emotions. A big piece of crap. And come on, Francesco, I get that you’ve become an idiot too (participating in a Pieraccioni film, I'm sorry, it’s a stab to the heart that every time I listen to Stanze di vita Quotidiana or Radici I think, how the f...?) but you couldn’t act even back then. As Battisti says, "Fatti un pianto."

I haven't listened to the album, except for the anthem and the Count's wife. But Benigni has really become a pain in the ass. He made one and a half decent films, and now he has nothing left to say. Unfortunately, he’s still young, so he’ll keep annoying us with increasingly ridiculous stuff until a merciful Alzheimer’s (for us) makes us forget him. And then, at least have the good taste to give his wife decent roles (like in "Mi piace lavorare" by Comencini) and not in his crap.

Ligabue is truly one of the lowest points reached by Italian musical madness. One decent album (released in a period of emptiness and therefore with very little to compare it to), two average ones, and then an unbearable nothingness that makes even today’s Vasco seem like some kind of guru (at least one who has a history behind him!). And then those long-haired guys and that big smile... It’s disgusting. And to think he could do whatever he wants with all that he’s put away, but no: the only goal is to put more away. Or, as the good Gaber used to say: "oppure sono io che non capisco più un cazzo."

For me, it's the best of the white records. Despite all the interpretations that can be made, a logical thread is given to the listener, and it’s thanks to this thread that one can reflect on it endlessly. All the tracks are very beautiful, with special mentions for the opening track, 'ecco i negozi,' and 'i sacchi della posta.'
