I don't remember who had mentioned it to me in the deChat, but in any case, I listened to it and my impressions were positive.

I like this less; I consider it below par compared to the usual Riverside albums.

The case of Battisti is similar to many others that occurred in the 1980s thanks to the Mitterrand government, which guaranteed freedom to all political criminals, the leftist terrorists from previous years, especially those from after '77, as in the wake of that terrible year, the various terrorist factions and groups exploded, taking advantage of the situation. All characters who, over time, have rehabilitated themselves through honest lives and behaviors across the Alps, Battisti has become a crime writer. From a strictly judicial standpoint, Battisti must be arrested and serve the remaining years of his life sentence in prison. Apart from this legal aspect, which is correct but somewhat easy, there are other discussions to be had regarding the subsequent behaviors of certain figures and also regarding the relationship that Italian politics and society have not developed with the years of lead. Let’s face it: Italy, as usual, historically loves and wants to forget. It has done so with the crimes against humanity committed during the Fascist regime and by the republicans, and it has done so with that period in which so much blood was shed, with countless unknown episodes (ranging from the "illness" of Pinelli to the murder of Mara Cagol, and so on). The strategy of repression leads to reprehensible episodes, such as the exclusion of Morucci from teaching at Sapienza, and it should make us reflect. In my opinion, Battisti should not be brought back to Italy precisely to avoid this false and dangerous strategy from continuing. One last thing: I would not compare him to Sofri. After all, the latter has always been treated with kid gloves in this country, defined as an intellectual and a person of acuity to the extent of writing editorials for Repubblica. Each time, there is talk of a pardon that he does not want; he probably doesn't mind hearing it because he loves victimhood. Ultimately, Sofri was not a worker or some great person, but evidently, we defend those who are convenient and who can maintain cultural and historical populism about a period they have contributed to significantly.

Damn! You could have spent a few more words on it, especially since the album is deserving.

Great review. Does it manage to keep you engaged after 13 hours of consecutive listening?

Boulez is a guarantee of quality; the few things of his that I've listened to have given me this conviction. You are right to talk about it.

A decent album, around 6.5. Nothing groundbreaking.
