Rufio The Comfort of Home
Voto:
Rufio was the name of a character from Spielberg's Hook. I really didn't like that guy...

Personally, I don't appreciate reviews that respond to other reviews or 'self-appoint'. I find them unprofessional, a bit too much like a blog and not enough like a magazine, let's put it that way...

I’m almost their compatriot and I must say that what’s commendable is their refusal to sell out to the mainstream, staying true to when they used to play in the small venues of Bergamasca... however, since then, the improvements have been few. A big credit goes to the voice, furious, ambiguous, incisive; in my opinion, it’s the most interesting aspect of the group.
Depeche Mode Exciter
Voto:
one of the most beautiful albums by Depeche Mode, able to reinvent itself while remaining constantly true to itself. It contains real masterpieces, above all 'freelove', which can refresh the new romantic glories of 'shake the disease' and 'a question of lust'. The album features the touch of Mark Bell, skilled collaborator of Björk, and you can feel it...
Panjabi MC Mundian To Bach Ke

I must admit that (without knowing the text) I have always thought of this song as one of the few musically acceptable hits. Of course, it feels a bit strange when you think about how late it became successful; just listen to any album by Natacha Atlas to realize that very similar things were already produced in the mid-nineties...
Anna Oxa Processo A Me Stessa

Okay, now I accept your comment, even if I don't agree with it :-) But, excuse me... the song is not Sanremo-style after all! I can understand when you say that Oxa is in decline, and I agree if you talk about "eterno movimento" or the horrible "cambierò," but in my opinion, this has been a great comeback.
Hooverphonic No More Sweet Music
Voto:
good job by Hooverphonic, it’s a shame they're penalized by the radio for playing a genre that has been out of fashion for about ten years... the album is good (I mean the real album, not the heavy second CD with remixes), still not their best though. beautiful 'no more sweet music'. more of a reminder than a review, like: oh, this album exists.

@ cptgaio: how can you say that this song doesn’t show anything new if you've never heard it? this piece is new not just for oxa, but also for sanremo and, perhaps, for italy in general. @ uxo: I agree with those who say that oxa has always stayed within the sanremese canons, often interpreting songs of great quality, but what she proposed with 'processo a me stessa' is a new dimension, different from popular music and definitely ugly if judged by 'POP' standards... however, I believe that this is precisely where the error lies, the criterion of judgment, which in this case must be that of art in general, of acting, of poetry, and not that of a trivial song. oxa stepped into unfamiliar shoes with an uncommon professionalism and passion, interpreting a delicate poetry with a performance that can be likened to the avant-garde of diamanda galas. absolutely misplaced was the choice to bring it to the festival, but it shouldn't be the wrong context that penalizes the value of the work...
Tiziano Ferro Nessuno è solo

floydman, I actually hadn't looked at it from this perspective... I could even retract, but the fact remains that getting angry shouldn't mean writing certain things on a site that anyone of any age can read. Even if there's a starting reason, one is in the wrong by writing certain things... especially since Mazinga has written more than one review, and you have no proof that it's the same person behind Birbabirba, etc... And anyway, I had said they would start with me; isn't it a demonstration of how insignificant these people's brains are (who don't even sign their names)?
Tori Amos A Piano: The Collection
Voto:
Well, cptgaio... come on... I love Tori Amos, but I'm very young and I've had the (un)luck to get to know her before Kate Bush. Honestly, when I discovered Bush, I felt like crying because of how similar their vocal styles were... then I realized that Tori's music is very different, but the influence (if not worse) is absolutely clear! (enjoy the silence is magnificent)
