'Il Suicidio Del Samurai', dated 2004, has been playing nonstop in my CD players for three weeks now. After the first listen, which I found very interesting, I researched the Verdena, downloaded their other works, and watched some videos and live performances to fully understand them. Mostly, opinions on the Albino four were not very good. Even on this site, someone reviewing the 'Elefante' EP tried (in my opinion) to imitate the already popular critiques of VicSorriso by saying, among other things, that they are copycats without a hint of originality.
After many more listens, increasingly aware ones, we arrive at today. You might ask, why do I stand as a champion for this album??? Well, because, first of all, it bothers me to criticize anything without reason. Nowadays, the trend is to say that all bands are copying; instead of actually listening to an album, people meticulously search for a chord similar to one from another band just to say "Eeeeh, they copied Nirvana, it's trash!!". It's true that tracks like 'Elefante', which are pure Queens Of The Stone Age style, don't give a sense of originality, but this CD is undoubtedly true and heartfelt, each track a small masterpiece (except for Luna, in my opinion too raw, and the monotonous 17 tir nel cortile). Just think of "Logorrea", a disruptive intro with a fierce drum, "Glamodrama", with its instrumental part so hypnotic it makes you drool from your half-open mouth, "Mina", which shows us how Verdena's atmospheres have changed, and all the other beautiful songs occasionally punctuated by Alberto Ferrari's shouts, which in my "personal scream ranking" is positioned between Piero Pelù and Manuel Agnelli. The only flaw, as usual, are the lyrics, not always understandable, and when they are, they don't mean much, but this might be the opinion of a superficial person. If anyone has understood them, let me know!
Nevertheless, Verdena are really in tune and in shape, the Ferraris and Roberta have also well assimilated the addition of the keyboardist Fidel, which is quite fitting because it fills many of those somewhat ... unpleasant gaps of the previous albums. Now tell me they copy Nirvana, that they copy the Cream, the Clash, the Queens Of The Stone Age, or any other band, but my rating is 4 stars.
P.S. Our guys are working on a new album, which will be released in March followed by a promotional tour.
Tracklist Lyrics and Videos
02 Luna (03:32)
Dipingimi distorto come un angelo anormale che cade
Offendimi, se odiare è un crimine il prezzo è uguale e fa male
E vedo te, io e te, niente conta in fondo
Illumina annulla le paure oh luna nulla è uguale
Sarò così onesto come se tu fossi il mare, il mare
E vedo te, io e te, niente conta e crolla, crolla
E vedo te, io e te, niente conta in fondo.
06 Elefante (03:06)

At the end of the day, this album is very pleasant to listen to, powerful and dramatic in some of its verses.
Verdena package their best album, always enclosed in their alternative rock, where despite the addition of keyboards, it is still fucking guitar, bass (strictly distorted) and drums.

"Verdena know how to play, and even better than many others much more celebrated than them."
"For now, the best Italian band around. Surprising."
By StoneAgeWoof
From their very first album, Verdena have represented an anomaly in the agonizing Italian rock scene.
Il Suicidio Dei Samurai is a fully mature and focused album where moments of excellence do not lack.

'Il Suicidio Del Samurai' could be described as a summary and more fluid version of the previous record.
Alberto’s menacing guitars herald a cyclone that hits the listener with 'Logorrea (esperti all’opera)'.

Once their show is over, it’s the turn of the 'hosts,' who immediately make it clear that they haven’t abandoned their sound violence after Wow.
The new CD might not be on the level of previous works, but live, the three (four, given the addition of a new touring member for this tour) never disappoint thanks to their energy and the sonic impact of their pieces.
