I (but it’s a personal thing) always tend to categorize Slint as post-Hardcore. In terms of rock, understood as sounds as well as attitude, I don’t find anything in them. But as influence for an entire genre, they can easily fit in.

Personally, I would rank Talk Talk and Rachel's above Sigur Ros... there's no comparison! Don't you like Gastr del Sol, Cul de Sac, and Bark Psychosis?

I’ve forgotten Bark Psychosis, while I still need to listen to Gastr del Sol. Anyway, I really like Sigur Ros a lot (Agaetis Byrjun and () are two wonderful albums) and they belong right where they are.

Beautiful until the Mogwai, then I don’t know anyone even remotely, so I wouldn’t know ;)

In the heat of the moment, I posted to Mr. Money... :) but believe me, it's a banger.

You know they had already been recommended to me? I have them on my list; unfortunately (or rather, fortunately) the stuff to listen to is a lot, and some gets a bit buried :)

In June I'm missing them too, I've marked them down as well... ;)

Finally, a ranking that in the top ten doesn't include that crap of recent guitar-centered post-rock.

What advice do you have for an astronaut?

(Anyway, your rankings are always super interesting, so please keep them updated! ;D)

Thank you, I will do it. Anyway, for now I will keep this updated also because I have a few other groups to add.

Of God is an Astronaut, I prefer "God is an Astronaut" from 2008, although they're all pretty much the same. Not exceptional, but decent, even if a bit repetitive.

In any case, the next one I want to explore in this genre is the one about cul de sacs you recommended. As soon as I buy it and listen to it, I'll let you know :)

I was really struck by China Gate. It's been a long time since an album impressed me like this. I think you'll like it. Anyway, let me know...
    • jdv666

It will take a little longer, but I will do it :)

One question, since you also really like post/atmospheric things, do you happen to listen to clusters? I’ve never explored them because I have the impression that I might not like them, but maybe you can prove me wrong :)

    • Mr. Money87
      21 may 12
I had only listened to cluster 71 some time ago, but just in passing, and honestly, I don't remember what impression it left on me.

Okay, thanks! (Anyway, I was terrible and just gave in to the impulsive purchase of China Gate a few minutes ago, soon my impressions :D)

    22 may 12
So far, I’ve listened to it twice and I must say that China Gate already sounds very nice, even though we’re obviously still at the first impressions. In any case, it’s a really relaxing album, great track! :)

How many beautiful people there are to discover in the post-rock scene.

    • Mr. Money87
      22 may 12
Yes, if you like certain sounds, there's a lot of stuff to listen to.
    • hjhhjij
      22 may 12
Well, yes, post-rock in general intrigues me quite a bit, so I think I will delve deeper.

    Attention! Don Caballero!

  • Mr. Money87

I’ve only listened to The Fall of Math by 65daysofstatic and I liked it. Certainly interesting, and in the post-rock ocean, they definitely stand out for their originality. I’ve forgotten about Don Caballero, though.
