Detroit-based ambient/drone duo Windy Weber and Carl Hultgren, known for long, immersive guitar-and-reverb compositions.

The duo formed in the early 1990s in Detroit and have released notable albums on the Kranky label. Their work is characterised by extended drones, heavy reverb and feedback, and occasional dream-pop touches.

Three DeBaser reviews examine Windy & Carl's long-form ambient/drone works. Drawing of Sound is praised highly for its earth-rooted drones; Portal is described in evocative, mystical terms; Depths is noted as darker and more submerged. Overall the reviews value immersive textures and extended compositions.

For:Fans of ambient, drone, shoegaze and long-form experimental music.

Lose yourself, man! Lose yourself in the tentacular drones that, like wild moss, entwine around the trunk of your spirit! Do not flee them, but from them draw, squeeze your melody! They are a to the Beyond

Windy & Carl write music that is deeply rooted in the earth element, although the use of drones, hyper-distortions, and overdubs would easily classify them as late epigones of a space music updated to the '70s.
