I've never been fascinated by that Jim Morrison revival of the Gun Club, the parodic no wave, or that faux schizophrenic voodoobilly of the Birthday Party that makes me think of a cowboy on a wild horse. Instead, PIL is an example of how to make me fall in love with the dangerous quicksands of the '80s.
