Halford - Resurrection

Lucio con Edoardo De Angelis - Sulla rotta di Cristoforo Colombo

Edoardo. He is also part of the forgotten Roman singer-songwriters, a writer of iconic pieces unfortunately displaced in time.
He also wrote for Francesco De Gregori the famous "La casa di Hilde."
This, instead, is one of his songs written for Dalla. A duet from 1997 where the two voices blend perfectly. A splendid text:
It was a January evening when my father took me
On a sail-less boat that knew where to go
To cast my net behind the lighthouse, then he said to me: "My son... this net is your life, sink all your dreams just as I did one day"
Every evening I return home with salt on my skin but in my eyes and in my heart... I have the stars
That could guide my ship in open sea

Patacca Vigliacca - Betobahia - Rap Brasile 2005

@[dsalva]: I wanted to tell you that I am a big fan of theirs.

The Clash - The Guns of Brixton (Audio)

Ennio Morricone - L'uomo dell'armonica - C'era Una Volta Il West (1968)

Beats International Dub Be Good To Me

The Art of Sampling: a fascinating and chaotic journey into the world of the producer.

Part 3: "The Guns of Brixton" by the Clash and "L'uomo dell'armonica" by Ennio Morricone, sampled by Beats International in "Dub Be Good to Me".

Enjoy listening.

The Northside

@[Annette]: I think Pelican City might be just what you need. A disguise behind which producer Danger Mouse is hiding, who years later would be involved in very different projects from this one. "Rhode Island" is relaxing and melancholic like a walk by the sea at sunset. If you feel like it, give it a listen.

Blur - Jets exemplary piece in terms of the direction taken on this record. And the instrumental outro (free jazz?) is something extraordinary #blur30

Pt. III

Nirvana - Drain You (Live And Loud, Seattle / 1993) It's difficult to talk about the 30 years of Nevermind: too much pointless noise surrounding Cobain's figure, which is, unfortunately, perfectly understandable (the "27 club" proves that). And he is one of the musical figures that has influenced me the most, so it's really difficult, at least for me. I just wanted to highlight an element that I have always perceived with extreme clarity in their music: the extraordinary vital energy of this album, despite (or perhaps precisely because of) the anger and discomfort that emerge from the sound, voice, and lyrics. And it's an album that single-handedly brought alternative, underground, or whatever we want to call it, into the mainstream, pulsating under what were the worst 80s, in every sense, and it will never be celebrated enough.

Aesop Rock - Labor Days (Full Album) (Explicit) music for white people, but it recently celebrated its twentieth anniversary. Not my favorite, but what a banger.

Nirvana - Smells Like Teen Spirit

I’ll keep it short (#maybe).
I didn't love grunge; I wasn't influenced, affected, or captivated by it.
Even though I was surrounded by classmates dressed like Kurt Cobain & Co., perpetually angry, I couldn’t engage with it musically. My soul is too British. However, when Nevermind was released, it was impossible to remain indifferent. I couldn't either…
The cassette in the photo is proof of that. The epochal importance of this work cannot be questioned.
To pay homage to the 30th anniversary of its release, I chose the song that Kurt probably hated the most, which instead was my first encounter with Nirvana themselves.
Sure, one could say, "there are many better ones on that record." Well, not for me.

Our little group has always been and always will until the end…
Yeah, just like that.

Blur - Ambulance - Think Tank Beetlebum, Tender, or Ambulance as the best opener of one of their albums? #blur30
