She was defined, and perhaps still considered, the greatest Brazilian singer of all time; in '61, at just 16 years old, she released her first album, "Viva a Brotolandia."

Due to her temperament and energy, she was nicknamed hurricane and chili pepper, but for Brazilians, she has always been the "Queen," both in name and in fact.

It is said that during the military dictatorship, she was blackmailed and forced to sing the national anthem, threatened with repercussions if she refused.

Her name was Elis Regina Carvalho Costa, and she died from a cocaine and alcohol overdose at just 36 years old.
