The Blues Magoos - Jingle Bells!
The Essential Albums: “Mercury Singles 1966-1968”
The Rev recommends this collection from a few years ago that gathers the singles from these three years, including (almost) all of them from the first three albums, which represent the true life of the band.
Here's my take: the debut Psychedelic Lollipop is ONE of the essential albums of the genre, Electric Comic Book is a worthy successor, while Basic Blues Magoos wraps up the brief but intense saga of the Bronx boys. The debut is more garage-beat, the next one more psychedelic, and the third more basic r&b.
A very personal freak-beat "cover" that I adore, of a traditional-a-dir-poco, released only as a single (if I remember correctly)…

Demolition Doll Rods - fast one
But from Micigaan, especially from Ditroiit Micigaan... is there anyone who sucks??!! Naaaaiiinnn!!! Another great band with that lovable criminal Dan Groha (Gories) accompanied by two terribly Ruock sisters. Garage-glam-punk... the usual second course that satisfies you while leaving you light and airy, savansadir.
I went to look for something written about the beginnings of the DDR and found more than I was looking for. In particular, a beautiful article by one Paolo Barone (who the hell knows who that is, savansadir) after seeing them with the Cramps, yes those Cramps at the Fillmore West, yes that Fillmore West on Tim Tirelli's site, one of the craziest music freaks out there... a man consumed by all possible genres. One who, in the mid-eighties, just over twenty, wrote Oh Jimmy, a real summary of the Zepp (in addition to a cool homonymous piece), truly a chronic music addict... and indeed he is nobly burned out. Then there’s an engaging “Ultima Thule,” a stunning review by Federico Guglielmi, which starts, “it’s useless to deny it: bands like the Demolition Doll Rods – two wild sisters with their tits out, a former Gories member dressed like a basement drag queen) are taking on, today, the tough role of guardians of the unquenchable fire of rock’n’roll. At least of that rock’n’roll...”
It continues splendidly... but we understood each other...

Bantam Rooster - Ain't Gonna Touch You

And from Micigaann, check out these two (ex) guys who devastated - among a few close friends - the soul with a Garage-Punk-Blues-LoFi sound.
Unfortunately, only three bone-crushing albums for noble souls with a dirty and pulsating sensitivity. They didn’t achieve success, but they made me feel “happier”…

Reigning Sound The Bells

Besides Mick Collins, another beautiful bastard Devil-Wizard of the genre is Greg - Oblivians - Cartwright. Legendary with the Oblivians, immense with the Compulsive Gamblers, and superb with this magnificent creature of his.

With Too Much Guitar you say to yourself, “okay, he made the masterpiece album with his Reigning Sound,” and instead this cursed bastard?! He lets half a decade pass and then throws you a wonderful album, a “moody & melancholic” - his words - side of the Oblivians sound. You can’t define it… it takes you back to your adolescence with sounds full of sixties moods, R&B, soul but also imbued with that traditional American sound…
And with that bastard voice, winking… in spite of the 17 octaves of the “great singer” of which I couldn’t care less… that animates this splendid bastard…
