Come on uxo, don’t worry... Janet is someone who doesn’t really go here, and in fact I was amazed to see that finally someone has VENTURED to write about her. I still don’t understand what one needs to write to be considered true debaseriani, but I believe that the important thing is to write what you feel, fully respecting the opinions of others! As for the rest... if someone offends, just ignore them!!!

I've always followed Janet, and indeed this is her most beautiful album, intense and cohesive in sound. "I get lonely" is truly black and groovy, she's fabulous in the video, "free xone" is really fresh and free style, as well as modern in its lyrics. A bit of a superficial review; for the very first Janet on Debaser, you could have gone deeper, but I thank you for doing it!

Annie Lennox, an amazing voice, extraordinary interpretations, but the album (and I say this as someone who loved Eurythmics a lot) just doesn’t “grab” you; it’s nice, yes, but you can really feel the absence of Dave Stewart. Together they were perfect, an incredible symbiosis, a rather rare chemistry. On her own, unfortunately, it’s just not the same compositionally... and anyway, I have all her albums, just like those of the duo.

Well done, Bruno, it really shows how much you love Prince and this album; your passion oozes from your words, so enthusiastic. Perhaps not on the level of "sign'o'the times", but definitely one of the most underrated albums in Prince's catalog. I would add that I find it a bit decadent, especially considering Prince's trajectory. A maligned album, and some comments here confirm that; I've always liked it a lot, overly sentimental "the arms of orion" making it a bit hard to digest, but for the rest, it's a beautiful electro-funk album (more than pop or trashpop as you define it). "batdance" is a fantastic track, incredibly catchy, and let's not forget the video! And I also loved “scandalous,” in its various versions... Definitely an album worth revisiting!
