Kecco, don’t get angry. We like to joke, just like you enjoy swearing.

I didn't think you were the type to review hip hop too. But evidently, it must be about valid hip hop.

Here we are, this is my first Octavarium, from "Train Of Thought".
Let's start from this title (conservation of momentum, to be clear), of which the last has sculpted other balls, under green hills in the background. The interpretation of this artwork could be that the Dream Theater with this new trick of conservation of momentum are thinking "Here, it’s just technique for its own sake." In reality, this album has less refined sounds with songs that catch the ear which the Dream Theater wanted to launch. The disc is composed of 8 synthetic sounds, alternating melodic pieces with others that are more melodic and, forgive me for the term that is meant to be negative, sentimental, which in the past characterized songs like "It’s technique for its own sake! They don’t put in passion!"
Here we are at the explosion of pure prog and Pull Me Under.
Panic Attack turns out to be Nu Metal, fitting into the standards of the Dream, and the most devoted fans of this group, reading the duration, can already guess the 24 minutes in which the "usual" (I also use the term in a derogatory sense) solos and virtuosity of Mr. 75 minutes of listening alternate. Arriving with difficulty and relative certainty that this time too the Dream Theater do not please, congratulations. This is heavily influenced by stratocontact and deserves.

They returned after the fantastic summary of their entire career, being the last with the Atlantic label. But leaving aside the aura of the golden section used in the songs, various self-celebratory quotes in the lyrics, and more, what we really care about is Dominici on vocals, who in this 'Octavarium' leaves us a bit perplexed. The first two pieces glide by without sinking us into the absolute bleakness of MTV. The poor Myung's bass fifth, which had barely been heard up to this point, gives way to truly enjoyable vocal experiments accompanied by consistently powerful riffing. A prologue of over 10 minutes that could easily have been 24 minutes in Pink Floyd style, with atmospheres for the first 4-5 minutes wearingly repeated until "A change of season." But you have to wait until minute 12 to hear a nice solo from Petrucci that leads up to the 20th minute with Petrucci's guitar. The conclusion is once again at minute 20 because after a long keyboard solo, one would expect something better. Morodin version.
