Ivano Fossati Macramè
Voto:
I love Fossati and this album is one of his best. Consequently, one of the most beautiful albums of the last 20 years. Ranking albums is difficult for me in this case, but Macramè definitely sits at the top, alongside La pianta del tè and Discanto.
Ivano Fossati Discanto
Voto:
How can you give less than a 5 to this album? A sharp and poetic record at the same time, it evokes sun-soaked lands and the ocean, speaking of literary dramas and everyday life, all with Fossati's enchanting voice and the sounds woven by a handful of true musicians. Great Ivano.
Fabrizio De André De André In Concerto
Voto:
I had the privilege of attending one of the evenings of Faber's magnificent last tour, of which this album is a faithful testament. These were unforgettable concerts, and these recordings are here to remind us of that: one by one, the superb musicians should be named, from Ellade Bandini to Mario Arcari, from Stefano Cerri to Rosario Jermano, and not to mention the very talented Mark Harris, who handled the arrangements, along with all the others. It's a shame that the CD being reviewed contains only about half of the songs performed at the concert (the other half is on Volume 2), so even better is the DVD that fully documents the show.
Francesco Guccini Anfiteatro Live
Voto:
In agreement with primiballi: the DVD is very good as it effectively fills a gap. The CD is less essential since, after all, it mostly replicates songs that are better rendered in the mythical "Tra la via emilia e il west."
Francesco Guccini Fra la via Emilia e il West
Voto:
Perfect live, a cornerstone of Italian music history, one of the few truly essential live performances because it captures Guccini at his best. Unrepeatable.
Francesco Guccini Signora Bovary
Voto:
Masterpiece. Nothing to add to the review. The best of Guccini.
Baustelle La moda del lento
Voto:
It’s not Malavita, but this second album by Baustelle is quite a gem. Bianconi starts to sharpen his singing style, and although it’s not yet perfectly focused, the album offers some jewels like "Arriva lo ye ye," the song about Alain Delon, and the title track.
Max Gazzè Max Gazzè
Voto:
If that's all, last year he went on tour with Stewart Copeland... need I say more?
Franco Battiato Gommalacca
Voto:
Immense record. Battiato churns out one of his masterpieces, surely the best work of the post Giusto Pio era. Innovative in sounds and supported by a constant inspiration, Gommalacca strings together a tightly compact series of songs, without the shortcomings of L'imboscata and far from the fragmentation of the subsequent Ferro Battuto. Fundamental.
Franco Battiato La Voce Del Padrone
Voto:
Five. In the face of the snobs who label it overrated. It’s a truly brilliant album that even allows itself the luxury of a forgotten masterpiece like Segnali di vita. Epoch-making.
