Rome, Teatro Brancaccio. Outside the theater and behind the scenes hang the posters of his latest tour: "Mi innamoravo di tutto", which continued, we can say, that of Anime Salve. A mature De André was about to step on stage, always with a slight detachment, that slight detachment towards public appearances, he who wouldn’t have gone anywhere without his more than reliable and trusted musicians (With Cristiano instead of Mauro Pagani as a multi-instrumentalist), with his voice that was like wine: the older it got, the more beautiful and characteristic it became, although there were slight difficulties: "Sometimes the voice struggled to come out, I felt my throat like a chessboard" he once declared.
Real gems from the album "De André in concerto", it's quite something to hear live again even songs that seemed to have been forgotten: "La città vecchia", "Via del campo", "Geordie" (which he found wonderful with the new version, much more refined in the musical field), and others already present in the live with PFM but that lose nothing: "Bocca di Rosa", the beautiful "Il Pescatore", the stunning "Amico Fragile" (here the musicians surpass themselves), "Il Testamento di Tito", totally different both from the PFM live and from "1991 Concerti", which is part of the lineup of the "Buona Novella" that Fabrizio will present again.
It ranges from the early French ballads and those of the 16th century from Via del Campo to the Mediterranean (or ethnic) sounds of Creuza de mä, from the Apocryphal Gospels of the "Buona Novella" to the marginalized of "Anime Salve". Unfortunately I never saw him live and I will never be able to see him again because that was "the last stop" but not for this the least important, I won’t even be able to imagine the emotion you feel being able to listen to him a few meters away, however, he left us this live which we can consider "a pocket-sized concert", a sensation to feel and always carry with us, as he said during a part of the concert: “I have no absolute truth to believe in, I have no certainty in my pocket, and so I cannot give it to anyone. It’s already very good if I can give you some emotions” .
