Ash, I was specifically referring to the fact that even Hole, at a certain point, sold out (leveraging Love's image as a sex symbol)... I don't agree with this statement: "that the thing has led to feminist aspects is quite different... it's more of an induced consequence..." The riots were a genuine feminist movement (albeit with all its contradictions)... Rather, it is correct to say that fox-core was not limited to being a mere pretext to promote riot ideology, but also had its own independent developments: I practically made the opposite reasoning to yours... I hope I made myself clear. :-)

It is a theory from a certain philosopher of a certain era, who established a direct correlation between knowledge and ignorance... :-)

Today, August 25th, 2006, we celebrate the definitive conversion of the user "the x factor" from metal to hardcore! :-P Responsible for all of this, yours truly. :-D

Capital album in the history and evolution of rock music. Influential on much of alternative rock, from new wave to the present day. A review that skillfully reaffirms already established concepts.

Beautiful review, Ash: if I were an editor, I would have placed it among the recommended ones. I find the Dolls likable, but their music (which I admittedly know little about) seems a bit too familiar and simplistic to me. I fundamentally agree with the discussion on feminism, but especially the first part of the review (the one where you talk about the importance of the historical-geographical-cultural context in which certain phenomena arise). Certain things, in the rock field, only do well across the Atlantic, it’s pointless to deny it. Then, if someone prefers the Dolls to the Babes in Toyland, that’s their problem. However, I’ll close with a provocation: are you sure that the discussion about the end of feminism shouldn't also be related to certain Hole (maybe not the ones from their debut)?

Roby, to me the Heep seem like an exaggerated version of the Purple: the voice is similar, then there's the Hammond, the structure of the songs is modeled after those of the Purple... only, in my opinion, the Purple were more inspired and also more measured... The Heep were sometimes a bit too pompous... Anyway, Easy Livin' rocks!!! :-D

I've always liked this album. I agree with Led's description of the songs in the review...NOTW marked a 180-degree turn after 5 rock-opera albums: here we find arena-rock, AOR, blues, Latin, hard rock, funk, pop, soul, rock 'n' roll...in short, this is where Queen got into the habit of conceiving albums in a heterogeneous way, like a cocktail of different styles...In NOTW, May often overdubs his guitar, while the backing vocals that adorned previous albums fade into the background...In the realm of mainstream rock, it's certainly a great achievement.

Nice review, concise but thorough. I don't know the album, but if you say it's even better than Winter and Magellan, I'm getting it right away! The difference between the Sava of the Oliva brothers and those of Stevens/Skolnick lies in the fact that the former were more fiery, visceral, emotional, while the latter were more formal, composed, austere. Anyway, both are great. I love them!

Ah ok, short but intricate pieces. Sooner or later, their time will come to pierce my eardrums :-)
