Lucio Battisti Hegel
Voto:
Who knows where they could have soared, if Lucio hadn't died, Battisti and Pasquale Panella. "Hegel" is the most unusual album of Battisti's latest work: lyrics as excessively cryptic as usual, but the music seems more carefree and catchy. A nearly masterpiece or a diminished flop? Marco Poletti Dixit.
Lucio Battisti E Già
Voto:
Perfectly in agreement with Eneathedevil. I subscribe word for word. Marco Poletti Dixit.
Lucio Battisti Amore e non amore
Voto:
Perhaps the least known album of the Mogol-Battisti period, but also the worst. Aside from the heavily censored "Dio mio no," nothing made it into history: the songs are lackluster and filled with mischievous and silly double entendres, and the long instrumental compositions by PFM (technically perfect) ultimately come off as boring and inconclusive. Marco Poletti Dixit.
Frank Sinatra My Way - The Best Of Frank Sinatra
Voto:
There’s nothing to say about Frank and his songs, but this anthology is crying out for vengeance. Tracks thrown in at random and many unjustifiable absences. Anyway, Frank is always Frank. Marco Poletti Dixit.
Franco Battiato Sulle corde di Aries
Voto:
A great display of music and deep, baroque sounds. The result is a bit cold, yet undoubtedly interesting. Marco Poletti Dixit.
Franco Battiato Pollution
Voto:
A lot of avant-garde, little substance. Yet, despite obvious and forgivable flaws, it is the only one in the Italian music scene that knows (and has the courage) to blend Strauss with pop and electronics with the most unrestrained baroque classicism. There's food for thought... Marco Poletti Dixit.
Franco Battiato Patriots
Voto:
The cover remains incredibly famous (and understandably so). The album is quite interesting; "Prospettiva Nevkij" is worth the ticket price, but "Venezia-Istanbul" also sends shivers down your spine. It’s an irritable, excessive, grandiloquent Battiato: a sort of luxurious ante-room that will yield, as its own pleasurable fruit, the thrilling "La voce del padrone". To be purchased immediately. Or, alternatively, to be listened to again. Marco Poletti Dixit.
Franco Battiato Orizzonti Perduti
Voto:
Much better than the previous "Noah's Ark," yet, despite a few nice songs, Battiato excites very little, and when he tries to aim high, he often ends up shot down. Perhaps, however, he’s more focused on producing artists like Alice, Giuni Russo, and writing songs for Milva. When he wants to, though, he really knows how to do it (see "La stagione dell'amore"). Marco Poletti Dixit.
Franco Battiato M.elle le "Gladiator"
Voto:
Ugly, lacking substance and poetry. A tedious and frivolous experiment, a sort of exhausting masturbatory exercise. Every now and then, however, it seems to excite. Marco Poletti Dixit.
Franco Battiato L'imboscata
Voto:
Not a bad album, indeed, particularly interesting. "Strani giorni" is very beautiful, but it's "La cura" that is the true jewel of this album created by Battiato as a sort of divide between "Caffè de la Paix" (1993) and the subsequent "Gommalacca" (1997). Nonetheless, it is not a masterpiece. What a shame... Marco Poletti Dixit.
